Thanks for this, I don't realise how smart and accomplished all the family were but I'm an admirer of Enoch and wrote my own post on hima few weeks ago.

Prophets for our time and never welcome in their own country. Enoch is announcing the New Pentecost. The bad news is we have to go through the Tribulation first and it has already started.

This family are mocked by many Christian Irish who don't have their religious zeal or belief and who certainly don't have their intellectual character. The Burkes in my opinion are a shining example and one of the rare, maybe only examples of a family who knows right from wrong but also are willing to defend right from wrong as a family and to the bitter end, no matter what the cost. I salute them. I admire them. I wish that we had more Irish like them in Ireland. They have continued their battle with the State and suffered many blows, yet they are still standing. This family are a family that don't follow the crowd. They are sure of themselves and who and what they are. So many Irish are led by others. I salute the parents who have done an outstanding job rearing their children from an educational and moral viewpoint. If more people took a leaf out of their Book this country would be in a better place.

Puts me in mind of the ancient gallowglass motto "better to dye than yeeld". The Irish pantheon over time must always contain a fair few such stubborn heroes. Heroes like the honourable Burkes. More power to their elbows. Not one cute hoor or gombeen man among them.

Really interesting read and a truly admirable family, that more would go with the evidence of their eyes rather than the tickling of their ears!!

Unbelievable how we went from church bound to cult bound in such a short space of time. Are we as a race of people malleable & so impressionable? The grovelling idiots headed off to worship at the altar of otherness spells it out for me. Grovelling impervious glory hunters - make me sick to the bottom of my stomach. The burkes head firm.

As a former church goer with latent Catholicism in my DNA (It's still ther but I'm afraid of it - still figuring that one out) I was captured by the celebration of Catholicism in Spain & how it's so natural & joyful - despite all the suffering statues.

Lack of joy in Irish Catholicism might be a pointer.

Even better giving it a second read just now.

Hands down the best thing anyone has ever written about the Burkes.

Great to read this again thanks Gerry.

It seems in our sick societies transgenderism trump's religion in what used to be the most Catholic country in the world.

Somehow I can't see the same thing happening in Poland.

I hope the Burkes make it very uncomfortable for Martin with their presence even though it's not a Christian thing to say !

Super article Gerry , I am a big fan of the Burke family and they have headed for the USA I hear , I don't know if they are invited or are going there to torment Martin but either way it is a good thing they went. I believe they will/ are playing a big role in Ireland finding it's moral compass again.

Fair play to the entire family. I too would ho to jail if they tried to make me say a boy is a girl. Our eyes do not lie.

Thanks for sharing, I would back them 100% for the right to their beliefs and there is a high % of people who agree with them. One of them should get on the political ladder and really shake up the system.

Might not agree with them in all their beliefs but I would back them in defending those beliefs.

I'm so glad to read this, as there's been so much bullpoo flying around about this man that I needed clarity, which I got in spades. One piece of constructive criticism, and please take it as such. I'm following about six people on substack, all of whom are gifted and important (in the true sense) writers. The amazing John Waters Sarah Plumley, Dellingpole, Steve Kirsch, in face probably nearer sixteen! The Mannions are pertinent to the Burke story, but make it too long! We need good writing about important stuff, but need to hoover the stairs as well! Their tale would be good on its own. Keep up the good work. I'll make the time!

Rare to read a balanced and considered take. Fair play 2 u.

And personally i love the pop cultural digressions and sidelines, it is the difference between an academic style of writing and a conversational storytelling vibe. Why not be entertaining and meta whilst joining your dots? it's very Gen X - so you do u Gerry!
