Background to Interview. I am joined today by three candidates who have announced they're running for Independent Ireland in the upcoming June local elections. Two were elected as Fianna Fail councillors in the last local elections of 2019. Both have recently exited FF for Independent Ireland. All three men are seeking election in Connemara.
I've listened to that podcast right true an I'd have to say it's the best talk I've heard in a long long time. It represents exactly my politics and I think the latent views of the majority of Irish people. Fair play Gerry for broadcasting it. I hope this party succeeds. It gives me hope for the future of the country. I'd recommend people listen to it from start to finish.
Probably like everywhere else around the world, the conversation did not match with the urgency of our reality, of the current conditions that are meant to overwhelm and to demoralize. Sorry for the good intentions but it has a sense of irrelevance as The Powers will do whatever they want, no power/representation for the people.
Good on them, they'll probably be elected, because there is so much dissatisfaction out there. I'll listen for a bit but might have to catch the rest later Gerry xxx
