Absolutely brilliant event Gerry. Best ever interview with the most Irish and intellectual people in Ireland. There is so much meat in there to chew over for hours. It will be hard to follow that
I'm reminded of a story told me by a member of the Alberta legislative assembly. On being elected to the position for the first time, he decided to ask advice from someone who had been in for over a decade, and whose effectiveness he admired. The older gentleman advised: "on my first day the civil servant appointed to me rolled into my office a huge trolley laden down with files. He said 'these, Sir are the files you must familiarize yourself with' By God's grace I responded ' no it is your business to bring me up to date with these files as needed and your performance of this task will determine your ongoing employment'. That was 15 years ago and I have always been well informed on every issue up for vote."
Great introduction Gerry. Very passionate. Having listened to John and Una along with your excellent line of questioning with respect and integrity towards both candidates I am left with feelings of awe and admiration that somewhere in the depths of the present madness in our world there are people like yourselves that speak truth to power that awakens (within me anyway) a great sense of hope in the capacity of human beings to overcome adversity and evil. I'm reminded of the parable of (Jesus) and the mustard seed that when planted is the smallest of all seeds on earth yet once it is sown it grows into the biggest shrub of them all and puts out big branched so that the birds of the air can shelter in its shade. I sincerely hope that having planted this small seed by hosting this event, many of us confused and weary people will - like the birds of the air find shelter and solace in its shade and resurrect our lost sense of pride and love of our culture, heritage, history and nation. Our country needs people of the maturity and integrity of John and Una. Thank you .
I really like how you used the parable of the mustard seed to liken what happened at Gerry's event to grow into a big movement where we can find shelter, absolutely brilliant MJ
Thanks Gerry. I wish both candidates the very best.
I could not say this better. Agree with all of these points . We are blessed to have these mighty fine people fighting for EiRe.
