I prefer to think that pain is inevitable in life because we are sensate, however suffering is optional because it is entirely mental. Therefore we have agency in attaching suffering to our pain or not.
I also believe more and more that creativity springs from joy - quite literally, full of the joys of Spring, which is the emergence of the creative impulse that has gestated through the dark.
Although in saying that, perhaps it is the gestation to which you refer here. Everything starts in the dark, in the womb, the pregnant belly that yields new shoots in Spring. That part of the creative process does, indeed, bring discomfort, as any woman who has ever gone through full term pregnancy knows all too well.
I would also like to say in defence of caterpillars, though they may not be as objectively beautiful as their butterfly counterparts, they have their own unique beauty in their colours and the way they move. Though not when they're on my veg plants 🙃😂
I remember when my daughter was born i was completely overwhelmed with awe .I couldn't believe the rest of the world was just carrying on as if nothing amazing had happened..and then when we started to go out into the world I couldn't believe that for every person such a miraculous event had happened and being astounded that we could forget we are walking miracles..every single one of us .. I wonder if AI would even have been invented if we had all remembered just that.
Very true. Collectively, we have sacrificed wonder, imagination, creativity, and the magic of sense pleasure, for the sake of convenience. However, I have hope because our boredom threshold as a species is relatively low (for most). People are already beginning to miss those attributes of humanity, which no AI regardless of how clever or well-programmed can replace 🙂
We really are strange creatures ..try to create a world in which we barely need to lift a finger and then pay to go to the gym 😅. Yes ,hopefully that boredom will be channeled in positive creative directions !
I never got the whole gym thing. I've looked through the windows of gyms passing by and I have yet to see a single smile. Yet, who could go for a walk among the trees and not smile at the colours, the sounds, the whispers of the trees?
The thing about vampires, at least this is what I gleaned from my reading of Bram Stoker, etc., is that they must be invited in by their victims. They can't just barge in uninvited and sink their teeth into a fresh neck.
True also. The problem is that we were given all these shiny new toys to play with and of course we continue playing with them day and night. They don't even see the inside of a toy box because they're never left down... Invitation granted ☹️
Read this three times Gerry. You are correct, this is an energy vampire, but more accurately, a spiritual vampire. You were bringing up images of Imbolc, we are on the cusp of Bealtaine. So that's subversive on its face. Suffering is part of life. Pregnancy is magical, the word "had" is another subversive word, I don't buy that anymore. AI is a redundant system. It only builds upon a closed system, never innovating or caring. If I saw correctly, the caterpillar munches and eats its way through life. The butterfly exists only to Imbolc. Bealtaine shona!

I never got the gym thing either .. literally using energy going nowhere 😅

Same is true for AI I suspect.
True also. The problem is that we were given all these shiny new toys to play with and of course we continue playing with them day and night. They don't even see the inside of a toy box because they're never left down... Invitation granted ☹️
I agree.
But AI is a load of BS (IMHO). Just don't give it your time or attention.
I don't 🙂
