Often, I write about the state of the world and its politics in terms of light and darkness. Needless to say, what I’m referring to at a spiritual or soul level, is a battle between good versus evil. Funny thing, you rarely hear an intellectual person, people consumed by the glories of the mind that is, or the elite ruling class use the word evil. Although many are only too willing to carpet-bomb their supposed goodness all over our virtual world. Often, instead, what happens is that the evil actions or deeds of a specific person or group are categorised as some type of illness. A saying from my youth pops up in my mind, in this regard:
“ Everything that was a sin is now a disease “
Obviously, some behaviours can be labelled as illnesses. But, I think one of the other reasons, the people outlined above, rarely use the word evil is because, strangely enough, the use of the word points to a spirit world. Albeit, the rather unsavoury element of that other-world.
When I trace my own path to the rather uncomfortable place I find myself in now, a site where I’m exploring my faith - I think I can identify a date the journey began.
December 5th 2021.
On that day, I became aware of light. A brilliant sort of sunlight in the sky. Like a nod from the gods that what I was doing at that moment in time had their blessing. This type of feeling or thinking is most unlike me. I am the ultra cynic normally. I question everybody and everything by default. This is so ingrained in me that my default could now be described as a big fault in most areas of my life. Yet, in one aspect, this is a quite useful quality when utilised for writing about the tyranny of the past number of years.
Perhaps, a better way of describing this, might be to say, I was very comfortable that darkness existed in the world and myself. I suppose what never occurred to me before was that there might be some light too.
