A quick scan of my writing over the last month reveals I’ve been concentrated mainly on two topics. The war in Ukraine and young Burke. Both fit into the four big global narratives that consume our world today. One of the advantages a newspaper has over a single independent entity like the West’s Awake is that it has an abundance of writing resources to apply to promoting their preferred narratives. They can assign a few different writers and content producers to whatever strand of the global narratives they are zoning in on and then carpet-bomb the public with propaganda on the subject matter to hand. I have to be a little more circumspect with my approach as a result. The problem is never that I have nothing to write about but rather that I have far too much to scribble about in response to what these mainstream entities are publishing. As a result sometimes a second or even a third story is required by myself to counter the narrative.
Thanks to all that have become subscribers of this publication as it allows me the ability to get out and about to meet people a bit. Like my recent journey to Dublin and Mountjoy Prison and the sense of what is happening on the ground amongst real people. Along with the joy of meeting new and interesting people this is a rich source of insight, new contacts and often new & worthy stories. So, if you’re on the fence about this publication consider jumping on board to help keep this ship on the road through a membership.
One of the dilemmas I face is that, as I said above , some subjects require a second rattle and I felt such was the case in September with all the Ukraine & Burke content. I understand sometimes too much of the same subject can be overkill for the palate. But hopefully I’ll get the balance better as we move forward.
