A couple of areas of interest to me. The blockade preventing asylum seekers accessing Kilmaley, Co. Clare and also some inquests occurring recently and in the near future at the Coroner’s court. This week I visited the Mayo Coroner’s court to observe the inquiry into the death of a 69 year old retired factory worker. Viewed from a certain vantage point, the Kilmaley & coroner’s court happenings are in a sense related. In this episode of the Scholar Gypsies I take a look local power centres and perhaps how we might look at holding them to account.

Thanks for this information, Gerry. It is great to hear that there is some pushback by local people off their own collective bat. You are right. We lost Dublin a long time ago. I have lived here in Dublin most of my life and I no longer recognize it to the point that i have been avoiding going into the city in these past 3 years. What I have noticed in my area (south Dublin) this year in particular is the transformation locally with the building of enormous apartment blocks in and around our area's.old housing estates 4 of these huge projects have sprung up within 5 minutes walking distance of where I live. Unfortunately, it is an area that long ago succumbed to the diktats of political correctness and the Irish Times.
