I wish I could send a donation, for now a salute 🫡 to a fellow from fighter! Hopefully in the future I'll be able to spare the currency 🤑

A 'pay to read a post' suggested by Sarah Posthuma is a good idea. There is so much for 'free' these days, but it's artists, writers, musicians who give and most likely don't get anything back. Substack is very good I think, and, as a musician who puts out music each week on Youtube, if every subscriber/viewer paid a pound to hear the (usually 20-30 minute track) I'd be able to not worry about if my car needs maintenance(again) or there's a son's birthday/Christmas coming up. I may even be able to take a break for a few nights somewhere and know I'll be ok financially to pay the bills or rent the rest of the month. Substack is better than Youtube/Bandcamp, and this writer, Gerry O'Neill, is worth every pound to read imo. 10% of 7000 is not much to ask for. It leads to a further question of how moral everyone is now. Is it really ok to keep taking sht for free? People put their hearts minds souls into their artistic output and give it out to the universe, as it's better for them to know it's out there and may be appreciated/affect someone positively...You'd pay a plumber to fix your boiler pretty quick, why not the same (but obviously a lot less outlay!) with someone's work you read and appreciate?

Anyway, I'm ranting... because I know what it's like, and I want to support what you're asking and saying Gerry. I'll shut up now and stick to vocalising myself through music!! 😄

Thanks for this Faith and your support. Musicians have it even harder than writers in most instances. Actually, it was my car that prompted the post lol. I know nothing about cars but Garage man said the old turbo injector thingy is gone in the car and a spring coil. Whatever all that means lol. Eh...my response to all that would be " eh yeah but how much is it gonna cost so I can start dreaming on the roads and following the moon again, mister....

Sorry about your car. Funny that's what prompted the post. I guess cars are vital to your work and mine...but like you, I'm 'ok...but how much ?' (and which card is gonna take the impact of this). My most recent car injury, thanks to The Computer in it (why can't things be simple anymore?) decided that the dashboard lights wouldn't work, so I couldn't see what fuel was left or anything. I left it, enquired how much, left it, enquired somewhere else...etc etc then said some prayers...and it miraculously started working again! I'm definitely more into car healing than car dealing.

There should be a 'pay to read a post ' option. Realistically most people can't afford to pay subscription for more than a few substacks ..and there's so many now .

Even 50 cents a post option for everyone!! The buy a coffee thing is good too I think but sometimes even that's a bit too expensive at the end of the month, better a writer get 50 cent from a lot of folks than little or nothing at all from many. It feckin kills me I can't afford to bloody subscribe to everyone but sher.......

True. That's not a bad idea substack should do that.
