Wonderful writing. What would Pearse and Collins have made of it?Collins in particular would have been furious imo. We left one Empire and joined another….

"The lack of foreign language skills available in Ireland was one of the new chinks exploited by the multi-nationals in terms of importing non-Irish workforces onto these shores." One minor (or not so) point that might interest you: my now wife worked in recruitment at the time. Her first 'big girl' job after fluting around Berlin for a few years. It was actually companies demanding native (for example) German speakers. Granted, you aren't going to find college graduates who learned, say, Finnish or Turkish in Ireland. However, TCD graduates with fluent German/French/Spanish etc were looked past. The Irish government could have, but chose not to, install 'minimum Irish hires' quotas.
This war for the soul and spirit of Ireland against the obese over fed globalist crocodile is also the war that "We the People" must fight in the US. Thanks for making it clear who and what we are fighting for and against.
A year on and the rape of Ireland continues apace, meanwhile in the UK our modern day Robin Hood, Tommy Robinson , is being released back to the Forest next week.
In the US the most medically monitored person on the planet is SUDDENLY in the final stages of prostrate cancer, whilst the real leader of the western world since 2022 is still a free man (or woman) and not banged up.
Our options on the forked road are get pissed and watch Netflix or stand up in our communities for our nations, in the UK our best bet is Reform and I'm an active member.
It must have been twenty-five or more years ago, the height of the Celtic Tiger. I was making a very good living from my work as a self-employed management consultant. I charged a high price to my corporate clients but they received good value and their businesses prospered as a result.
I had just decided to invest in bricks and mortar. It seemed to me that Ireland Inc. was at long last catching up economically on the rest of the First World. What's more I felt it had a long way to go yet. In fact there did not seem to be any end in sight! So now was the time to buy an investment property and safeguard my burgeoning next-egg.
I drove to an estate agents in Dublin and parked my car outside. As I walked towards the entrance I pondered in my mind if I should really do this. Immediately I felt I should turn around at once and forget about the whole thing. Without hesitation I did so.
Call it gut instinct or a 'whisper' from God, I believe I was saved from making a terrible mistake. Not long afterwards the housing bubble collapsed. Not only would I have lost a lot of my own money, I would still have had to repay a hefty mortgage. And those rent receipts would probably have dried up too. I would have been ruined financially.
I was lucky. Many others were not so fortunate. But Gerry is correct. We are now realising that Ireland is not just an economy or a 'sandbank'. Ireland has a Soul. And thank God She is now making Her presence felt!
Some of us met Waylon Gary White Deer recently here in Monaghan, a leader within the chactaw nation - who has spent a lot of time in ireland, particularly in the Donegal Gaelteacht. Waylon tells us just 30,000 Chactaw remain. He was keen to emphasise that someone who is one third chactaw, one fifth, one tenth, on as far as one, one hundred and twenty fifth is not of the Chactaw nation - it appears that many people claim to be Chactaw but Waylon is having none of it. It's a blood lineage as well as a genuine affiliation to the customs & heritage of his people. Obviously many wish to be seen to of 1st nation people for whatever reason. But no. Waylon and his people have very relevant, sensible & strict criteria. No dilution please.
He went on further. There are many issues out there in the world today, many worthy of attention. But his people, his nation is the rock he will perish on.
How many of our so called leaders here would have any such inclination?
No. Instead we have the extreme globalist Micháel martin who stated in this dáil of ours that he had "no time for the backward idea of sovereignty"
As someone put it, have we a duty free estate or a nation- ? A low tax enclave where no criteria exists to be ourselves, except in our own hearts & minds. Freelancing as irish with a throwaway passport will never suffice.
The chactaw people's affiliation with Ireland goes back to famine times. Having heard about the Irish people's plight, they organised a whip around and raised enough money to send a ship load of grain to alleviate irish starvation.
This generosity came just 10 years after their heartbreaking "trail of tears" when they lost quarter of their population on a mid winter walk to a reservation earmarked for their future isolation from their traditional homeland.
How depressing, Gerry - a whole year has passed and yet this piece could have been written today... I remember being incensed when our politicians started calling Ireland, "Ireland Inc.", saying how could our country be portrayed purely as a business when we were a nation with our own wonderful people and culture (this was long before the scamdemic era)... I just wish the non-thinkers would awaken and reclaim our beautiful land...
All very fine, but as a little matter of interest, would you mind spelling out a vision of the future for your land with 'clear links to the people, culture and spirit of our past'? It's not that I disagree with you, but after all, who or what is going to pay my pension? Just curious!
My attitude is your vision of your life is your responsibility to map out. I suspect you probably have a fair idea what some of those things are already for you. I would say it can be eased into - I've taken a radical approach and so no longer spend much time in anything connected to the Global economy in Ireland. Not everyone can do this but can consciously spend more time absorbing their lived experience in the nation as opposed to the economy. I'm trying to live what that means to me. Poorly, I might add lol.
Sorry, I don’t understand . You say ‘you don’t spend much time in anything connected to the global economy ‘. Not using the internet, oil or electricity ?
A vision for life has to be coherent, submit to some kind of language and discerned rather than arbitrarily ‘mapped out’, does it not?
so true. a battle for the nation's soul is indeed under way but still early days yet... the end of the beginning perhaps?
Reminds me of the Godfather 2 & Michael Corleone observing the might of a US/mob backed Batista government against the people being an unsound bet. People being paid to do something vs people who believe in something. The majority will always just follow the herd, go with whoever is winning without much conviction either either way but as events touch more and more people on the ground locally - they'll be forced to re-assess what kind of country they want to live in.
The very thing they want us all to believe is our "economy" what a load of BS! Whilst they can print billions for their chosen project, at the drop of a hat, as long as the drop comes from the EU:, "Economic migrants" or " refugees" you choose, everything we have been told is a lie... aboutotely everything. Our sovereignty, our taxes, total extortion and illegal. Aboutotely! And without doubt.
Never forget ''That if you owe the bank 20grand,they own you, but owe them millions and you own them." The carry on during tiger times was an utter disgrace.Commonsense was like a fatal disease. The people that live in the economy fit to a T the expression ''Put a beggar on horseback and he will ride to hell". The beggars are now riding fancy cars and have their bike lanes and never have to travel alongside the great unwashed.
Then why are so many of you asleep when it comes to the ressurection of the Sovereign Nation State that's being carried forward by the IRB?

Very empathetically written, Gerry.

We will prevail or perish !

I posted this some weeks ago. It's relevant.
NATIONHOOD

Yes, it made me a little deflated when I saw the one year anniversary pop up in my dashboard and re-read it.

I don't think Patrick Pearse spent a lot of time worrying about his pension.

A very eloquent and poignant post, Gerry.
Sir Walter Scott sums up what it means to be a Patriot and love your Nation and People
Breathes there the man, with soul so dead,
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
Whose heart hath ne’er within him burn’d,
As home his footsteps he hath turn’d,
From wandering on a foreign strand!
If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no Minstrel raptures swell;
High though his titles, proud his name,
Boundless his wealth as wish can claim;
Despite those titles, power, and pelf,
The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust, from whence he sprung,
Unwept, unhonour’d, and unsung
That is powerful and really describes so many.
