Sunday evening’s fuel package announcement contained the theatrics and faux-gravitas of the March 2020 lockdown moment. A big empty stage, three lecterns and three politicians facing mainstream camera lens attempting to bookend a week of protests.

By the end, it became increasingly apparent Independent Sean Canney is the de-facto leader of the Irish government and band-aiding it together. Well, for the next couple of weeks at any rate. Taoiseach Martin looked ashen-faced and beaten, Harris spoke with a few extra scoops of his painfully contrived earnestness, Canney made more ordinary, empathetic remarks while at the same time seeking to sit on both sides of the protest fence at once—an impossibility to pull-off for more than a day or two more.

Missing, though, was Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan. Architect of the Garda deployment of public order units at the weekend to Whitegate, Galway and O’Connell Street. O’Callaghan’s was a curious omission. For he and the new Garda Commissioner are the ones guaranteeing the €500 million in cheques Taoiseach Michael Martin, Harris and Canney were writing on RTE News.

For what good is the watered-down fuel deal if the safety of port facilities which O’Callaghan and Kelly somewhat miraculously lost on Wednesday and then somewhat miraculously found again by Sunday morning were to be taken once more?

I have extensively written about the effective relationship O’Callaghan and Kelly have developed in recent months since Kelly stepped into the Garda Commissioner’s role, replacing Drew Harris. My synopsis at the time, and one I still believe holds true, is that elements within Official Ireland realise—far too late—that Irish progressive-left social policies have over-stepped the mark hugely in this nation and these elements are now trying to take a half, or a quarter-step, back from the brink. From lockdowns to mass immigration and now to fuel. The developments of the last week have the fingerprints of both on them. Especially when you read media reports that Minister for Defence, Helen McEntee, and other cabinet members were booted out of the loop over the weekend.

But, first, let’s jump back to Thursday and a statement O’Callaghan gave to assembled reporters and Irish media.

I would ask people involved in the protest to cease their protest. The government has heard the point that they’ve made but it is now clearly the case that considerable damage is being to inflicted to Irish people and to the Irish economy and I’d ask them to stop their protests now.

When you look online at present You can see that many “ outside actors “ are seeking to manipulate these people for their own purposes. I see Tommy Robinson, in the UK, referring to and relying upon these protests to advance his own political measures.

O’Callaghan’s delivery above—recorded for cameras—was calm, steady but not particularly anger-ridden. A marked contrast to his own party leader and colleagues in government. Which is an oddity, considering his ministry was the one tasked with bringing the blockade of ports and motorways to a safe conclusion via the Garda Siochana.

O’Callaghan’s statement reference to former British Nationalist Party member, Tommy Robinson, is a tell but not in the fashion many in Irish resistance circles might think. A day after O’Callaghan’s address to reporters government negotiations were announced on Friday. Over the weekend these talks were conducted with stakeholder organisations like the IFA, Road Haulage Association and others as mentioned in my article on Friday. Now, it’s very conceivable that senior members of these stakeholder organisations were heavily involved in the conception and roll-out of the fuel protests with a private nod of approval from people, security forces, and politicians within our captured state. People in Official Ireland, in other words.

A fly in the ointment to a semi-inside job would if the protests expanded to incorporate other huge Irish issues like, say, mass immigration, state lockdown and vaccine policies during Covid, or a host of others. This would threaten to introduce chaos and affect the rogue elements within the state and their ability to remain in control of proceedings. These other issues are not ones these elements want to touch with a barge pole at the minute. Which is why, I believe, the only note of concern in O’Callaghan’s tone last Thursday was when he made reference to the non-existent problem of Tommy Robinson in Ireland.

Now, despite all of this, I think the fuel protests were a success. For the very simple reason it brought waves of young Irish men and women onto the streets for the first time. General public support for what occurred remained high through-out. In a sense, members of Official Ireland who spend ten hours a week in their cars driving to work joined forces with Unofficial Ireland and those diesel-covered jean wearers who spend over fifty hours a week working in their vehicles. Both sides of this equation were authentic and angry and possibly virgin to how the hidden hand works. But, all now possess first hand experience of how state, security forces and media collude with each other and manipulate message and agendas. Only bitter experience teaches this lesson so that it’s never forgotten, unfortunately. As I said earlier, what happens from here will be instructive. Will the protests peter out?

Last Saturday, at Galway city and port, an education was on offer for any who stuck around to absorb it in full. The early evening saw a carnival atmosphere as hundreds popped in and out of the port area to support the trucks, vans and tractors blockading Galway’s oil storage facilities along the docks. Fires, food, chainsaws cutting up pallets, and some singing were all part of the early evening proceedings. Newbie protesters interacted good humouredly with a smiling local Garda Siochana.

The smiles were knowing ones, though. Three or four hours later, under the cover of darkness, the public order units descended on the area from out-of-town and dispatched hundreds of balaclava masked police to begin taking back the port facilities. Ushering in a different, authoritarian face of the state many reading this have seen and felt before. The barricades were pushed back four hundred metres, protestors efficiently ejected, approach roads cut off quickly, and by sunrise Galway Port began transitioning back to a quasi-normal state. Fuel traffic could flow once more to a degree. To repeat—the ease with which Irish ports were so easily blockaded in the first instance and then so handily taken back leads me to wonder about how much insider dealing was at play overall.

Quite a bit, I suspect.

So, to draw this piece to a conclusion we can say the following: The government and security forces have played their full hand with the roll-out of fuel concessions and the repossession of the ports. Stakeholder Ireland signed a deal agreeing to look after their own members while the average motorist received a paltry 10c-a-litre in fuel cuts.

The next few days will tell us if Jim O’Callaghan and the Garda Commissioner have played their cards correctly. Have they moved—just enough—in the direction of the protest crowd to quell an uprising. Crucially, though, what actually happens next is largely out of their control. However, I can guarantee one thing: the Irish ports will not be so easily taken by protestors for a second time. There will be no smiling assassins patrolling the sun and showers in Garda uniforms for a Round 2.

My experience of the last week was meeting lots of very authentic, hard-working and angry Irish people, ones I haven’t seen before on the various protest fronts. Grounded, earthy, and good-humoured. An Ireland I recognised but haven’t seen for quite awhile. The fuel protest was the first rodeo for many and ultimately government and the public order unit forces used this naivety to their advantage in Whitegate, O’Connell Street, Foynes, and Galway.

The fuel protests brought real Ireland to the streets but it remains to be seen if this novice protester will now get back in their cars satisfied with the 10c bribe the government are offering.

The scene from the N17 plaza and twenty-four hour filling station in Tuam last night resembled a crime scene. Reams of yellow and black plastic tape fluttered in the wind and circled around the station’s ten or twelve pumps. The eerie vista more akin to a place marked out as a murder site awaiting forensic examination than a refuelling station. The message was clear, if a little haunting too: No fuel available to night-time traffic in a town of ten thousand people. Or, to anyone cruising around looking to lob a few litres of patriotism into a Volkswagen Passat from an unprotected green diesel pump. The night was cold and damp and a few cars edged around the forecourt at 1am in search of fuel.

Another station down, I thought.

At last count the number of petrol stations running on empty stands at one hundred with the rest set to close by the end of the weekend. Yesterday, a quick tour of Limerick, rural Tipperary and the port at Foynes revealed both sides of the fuel equation. In Foynes, quietly determined groups of fuel protestors blocked the road to the port. Men populated from the unsexy industries and sectors of Ireland that rarely hit the headlines, but who ultimately keep the nation watered, fed, fuelled and royally dressed in our globally sourced finery. All were calm and not for the turning. Certain of the necessity of their cause, good-humoured and operating in general co-operation with the local Garda Siochana monitoring the situation. The infrastructure of the protest was solid and not likely to be easily broken by an invasion of army or public order units.

Elsewhere, as day moved towards evening, the forecourt queues lengthened everywhere but significantly the overall mood of the waiting crowds was supportive towards the protests. A fuel protest that began on Tuesday with a rag-taggle of tractors, buses and trucks dispatched to various arterial points on the Irish road network and to Irish ports threatens now, four days later, to grind the economy to a halt. Early in the week, most were only idly curious about this band of mechanical brothers, mildly interested to observe how the state and political authorities would stonewall their concerns and reverse them back to their farms, truck yards, and private bus depots in failure.

Now, though, everyone is invested and fully locked on to the developments and outcome of the fuel protests cause.

No mean feat.

Fatally, the response of out-of-touch elite ministers and media was one of immediate derision. A derision thinly veiled and barely concealed behind camera smiles filled with teeth promising menace and threat to all who dared to defy them. Again, early in the week, they pontificated with confident swagger and sinister snigger while the media lapped it up and pumped out stories about missed hospital appointments and people dying. Their general gait indicating a belief that the silent majority would side with Official Ireland and remain silent—as they always do.

“The protests at the moment are wrong. To prevent mobility, to prevent people from accessing livelihoods, medical appointments, disrupting day-to-day activities in the manner that has happened, is wrong and is a wrong form of protest. “There’s no justification whatsoever for blockading fuel depots.” Micheal Martin, Taoiseach speaking to reporters early in the week.

Yet, by Friday, as petrol station after petrol station ran out of oily juice, nobody’s sniggering now. Steely determination and defiance has forced this government to the negotiating table. A potentially disingenuous negotiating table but a counter top with a smattering of chairs and voices nonetheless.

Official Negotiations

Talks began today ( Friday ) in government buildings between government, represented by Ministers Darragh O’ Brien, Martin Hedyon, Sean Canney and Timmy Dooley and the Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA), the Irish Farmers Association (IFA), the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA) and other recognised groups. Crucially, many representatives of the front-line fuel protestors have been left on the side-lines and outside the official negotiations. Fuel protest leaders like Kildare farmer, John Dallon, who mainstream media were happy to platform but who negotiators refused to allow sit down at the table.

The government tactics seem crystal clear. Negotiate with official bodies they largely informally control but who are not at all centrally involved in organising the fuel protests. Then, come to a watered-down deal—some might say bribe—with these groups. In the hope this will ramp up pressure on protestors and essentially isolate them from public support and organisations many of them are probably members of.

Late Friday, Garda Commissioner, Justin Kelly, ordered every Garda in the country to report for duty for the next three days to police the ongoing fuel protests and blockades. The order is described as an “exceptional event” within An Garda Síochána, and one which has rarely if ever been used before. It’s a decision likely to create tension and flash-points over the weekend.

The Friday showdown at government buildings achieves another goal for Official Ireland. It’s best to have Ireland’s 3 million workers mull over these negotiations over the weekend. When the buried cost these protests and barren petrol stations are having on the nation’s leisure activities springs to obviousness, as opposed to chewing the cud on the same problem while backed up in traffic during the working week. When thoughts may wander to exactly how much the government are over-charging them in hidden fuel taxation for the honour of labouring away in Ireland Inc. Anger might bubble to the surface and explode into their consciousness in such circumstances.

However, support is beginning to expand for the fuel protestors from some helpful and related industries too. Head of the Irish South and West Fish Producers Association, speaking on behalf of a huge segment of the Irish fishing industry relayed the following statement on the fuel protests to this substack earlier this afternoon.

“ Irish South and West Fish Producers Association are concerned by the recent announcement by our government that they will escalate their reaction to the fuel protests by introducing a version of martial law. We believe that people should be entitled to protest regardless of the inconvenience that gives to the public.

And the reason for this is that our businesses are not viable and we will have to cease, and our members from the smallest to the largest have invested decades of their life and huge sums of money to get into the industry and keep re-investing. They were asked during Covid to set aside their fears to make sure food was supplied to Europe.

Yet, we see the comments where we need the exorbitant taxes foisted on fuel to pay for retro-fitting of houses around the country-side. I know heat and warmth and shelter is important but also is food and without a viable industry we will have no food “

So the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Divide and conquer is order of the day for the government. Hold the line the clarion call for the protesters.

What Should Happen Next?

In essence, a nation watches as a twist to the old Emperor Has No Clothes tale plays out—Irish style. The Taoiseach’s toxic and condescending language have no diesel in the tank to take him anywhere. It’ll be interesting to see what develops from here as from this perch—at seven o’clock on Friday evening—the fuel protestors have a full-choke strangle hold on Official Ireland and everyone knows it. Whether anyone admits this publicly or just concedes it privately atop a plush chamber-pot in a Leinster house wash-room is a moot point. Advantage protesters rules still.

Those involved in competitive sports instinctively understand that the follow on chess move from a choke-hold is a precisely aimed kick to the balls. The weekend will decide the momentum and it is vital, even with doubts pertaining to some of the groups and people central to the apparent success of these protests, that the silent majority dig in their heels and offer support. Support means inconvenience, fuel shortages and listening to a whole pile of howling from global Ireland on our digital devices.

If this steadfastness occurs then, day by day, it will be the politicians slowly isolated and stripped of already miniscule support. Currently, media narratives demonising the actions of the fuel protestors are not working as the majority lean into the shortages and away from the lies of an incompetent government. A motley crew pandering first and always to the needs of a gargantuan non-Irish multinational class and lapping up instruction from stakeholders who reside in Brussels and Washington and not the worker bees standing outside Whitegate, Foynes or Dublin Port.

On February 28th a far-away war of choice began thousands of miles away from these shores threatening the global supply of oil and gas. Prices shot up and our political class focused abroad rather than at home. Pontificating on matters they have no control over and admonishing people who have little regard for their words or opinions. Even as crisis and anger promises to swallow them whole at home they blather their confident foolishness on matters abroad.

Two reports and a potential solution

In 2024, the Central Statistics Office, produced a report that showed for those aged 25-64 years in Ireland, more than half (56%) had attained a third level education or higher. This was and is seen as progress and evidence of Irish success. A modern education system tuned to the appetites of western civilisation and global economics.

However, down in Foynes port yesterday, twenty miles west of Limerick city, a different type of Irish appeared. But one plucked from the same age profile as the CSO report. They were making their presence felt in no uncertain terms. Almost exclusively men and all huddled in groups blockading the road leading to the port. These are the important foot soldiers keeping the academic architecture and careers of the global Irish economy running smoothly. As GDP graphs have zoomed vertically over the last fifteen years these men’s worth to the nation has been simultaneously devalued.

All told, about fifty to eighty of them and their heavy duty vehicles and machinery let PHD Ireland know exactly how powerful, intelligent and valuable they are to our nation. Guys who put the seeds in the ground, cattle on the fields, food in the trucks and pluck fish from the seas. All the while, delivering goods, people and services to the retail units, hospitals, schools and plush supermarkets.

Official Ireland kinda hates this vital, virile and valuable Unofficial Ireland still exists. The reason for this is simple. They perform a function Official Ireland can’t live without. They get rich from exploiting it, though.

Unfortunately, masters educated Ireland who know the price of everything and the value of nothing have met a group educated by land, sea, road and the callouses on their hands. Mostly dungaree-ed and un-degreed. Who know the value everything, not least themselves and where their place in the real Irish food-chain actually stands.

One solution to the fuel protest is simple enough and easy to implement. Suspend all excise duty on all fuel for a trial period of three months. This kind of idea brings roars of psychotic insanity from the mouths of Micheal Martin and Simon Harris. But, if we hone in on diesel which is the main issue facing the protest groups we can say the following: At present, the price of a litre of diesel is averaging around 2.20/litre at the pumps. A breakdown of that price reveals the following:

Excise duty ≈ €0.53 per litre

VAT on the excise portion = €0.53 × 23% is an additional €0.12

So per litre, the State takes €0.65 in total tied to excise and VAT.

CSO fuel clearance data on auto-diesel returns indicate approximately 280-290 million litres of diesel are cleared through the state per month. So, the cost of implementing a three month excise duty freeze on diesel would run to between 550-600 million euro. The pump price would reduce to about 1.55 - 1.60 for a three month period, a price that would allow for a little future padding if further price increases occur due to further escalation in the on-going conflict in the Middle East. The government don’t require a price cap but actually a price floor. A price below which they and taxpayer can agree introducing excise duty again.

A breakdown of total Irish fuel consumption by the CSO on an annual basis looks something like the following:

Diesel - 3.6 billion litres.

Petrol (unleaded) - 1.0 billion litres.

Marked Gas Oil (green diesel) 1.096 billion litres.

To implement a full three month excise duty exemption would cost in the region of 800 to 900 million euros. Maybe up to a billion in lost revenue. A fixed reduction in price doesn’t work due to oil price surges swamping any gains to the end consumer. At any rate, the higher the price, the higher the future taxes raised by the state which is counter-productive and also lacks transparency. Suspending the excise duty solves these problems. No doubt they’re are down-sides but extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures to protect the people the government are charged to represent.

In the meantime, government and interested parties could put some of the masters-degree and PHD level minds at their disposal to work designing a brand new taxation system for fuel that incorporates the geopolitical turbulence most likely to remain part of our future lives for the foreseeable future.

A simple solution similar to the one above helps the industries and businesses manning the protest lines, assists the consumer at the emptying petrol pumps and buys time for the government to come with a robust alternative. While these amounts are not small change by any means they are nowhere near the billions and billions in cost the Irish government are erroneously claiming on mainstream media anytime the subject is brought up.

I wrote the following piece in early October 2024 ahead of the US Presidential election. It references dark forces championing Trump’s re-election. Those forces now seem fully in control of his presidency, while often masked as angels of light or some kind of force for good. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am republishing unchanged the piece. These times spawn a thousand new rabbit-holes and I discuss my own trip down the Trump rabbit-hole six or seven years ago. It’s a time for real people, real connections and real networks not digitally intoxicating narratives and AI generated fakery.

Before we radar in on why darker forces, and previous enemies of the man, might well now desire a Donald Trump win in the 2024 US presidential election; we must first take a slight detour for some personal background. Nothing new for regular visitors to this piece of Substack real estate.

In fact, a rabbit-hole might more accurately be described as a swallow-hole, for that is exactly what sinking down one threatens to do - swallow your life whole. I’ve been down several during my time shuffling around this earth. None more so than the Trump rabbit hole. A development that began, rather idly and innocently, some-time in 2018, to discover why exactly the corporate media and political elites possessed such a visceral hatred for the man. For it most definitely seemed visceral. I stumbled into, rather than sprinted into, this particular rabbit-hole. Six or seven years ago, I was more positive than negative about the possibilities of someone like Donald Trump but mostly I was curious. Curious to see how a brash, loud, ego-laden business-man would run the biggest and most powerful economy on earth. And curiouser still, to discover why so many hated him with such instinctive gusto.

This rabbit-hole took me to some wild and wacky places. Supreme Court judge nominations, mass illegal immigration, Operation Warp speed, the seedier side of campaign financing on places like opensecrets.org, and election interference to name but a few. In summation, you might say, the whole experience brought me to Epstein Island and back. Darkness seemed everywhere.

My wanderings and ponderings came to a shuddering full-stop on January 6th 2021. My conclusion was the bad guys or darker forces had won the day in a most forceful manner with a breath-taking display of power. Politics, I concluded, was rotten to the core. On both sides. That was my feeling then and not much has swayed my thinking in the interim period. It was time to leave the Trump rabbit-hole, exhausted, and get on with life.

By the end, I was consuming five to six hours a day of US political and post-2020 election content. My own experience is that the benefits of rabbit-hole excavation only really manifest after you scrape your way back to the surface and breathe in some fresh air. Truths are unearthed, no doubt, sometimes explosive truths but the huge problem is that everything, and I mean almost everything, becomes visible only through the prism of your rabbit-hole. Not a great way to fashion a life or place from which to convince the world around you as to the widespread merits of your discoveries.

My conclusions, though, regarding the 2020 US Presidential election have not changed much from then to now: It was a stolen election, and in a sense, legally stolen through the proliferation of mail-in voting and vote harvesting ushered in under the guise of Covid panic through the relaxation of rigorous voting checks and balances in various individual states. The illusion of democracy died in early 2021, in my mind, and remains, more or less un-resurrected, ever since that fateful January day. Occasionally, a wave of optimism on this subject sweeps through me but rarely lives for more than a week or two.

As a result, today, I look at the 2024 US presidential election with different eyes. Most of the same characters, on both sides of the fence, are still in place which is useful. Political debate, while pretty basic in 2020, is now completely out-the-window and instead we are treated to a very bad series of X-Factor. The electorate, as it were, encouraged to vote for the candidate with the best viral-clip or the funniest memes.

Now, one interesting nugget I note in this election cycle is just how much easier President Trump is able to access all media. This has been especially true for the last couple of months. Very interesting, indeed. Last night, he appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast, and it bears no repeating that Elon Musk has dedicated his company - Twitter/X - towards Trump’s re-election. But, in many ways, these two points and two characters are a smokescreen to what really is afoot, I think. Underneath, the mega-level of media reach accessible to Rogan and Musk, lies a cottage industry of influential “ independent “ political, comedic, and entertainment type podcasts. Almost all of them existed in 2020 but which have now grown up and matured over the last four years. These tech vehicles - combined - have huge reach and influence; Gript is an Irish example of one such entity.

President Trump has appeared on all of these second-tier platforms in recent weeks and months. Garnering hundreds of millions, if not billions of views. All of these various media businesses primarily exist on Youtube. Now, Trump’s access to these platforms and in-depth conversations on them, in 2020, was close to non-existent, and indeed, would’ve spelt almost instant de-platforming or vast shadow-banning for anyone silly enough to entertain the notion. This is instructive. Not of the media personalities operating on YouTube, but, of Google and Youtube. Google has taken a position on Trump, in my view, and the final decision is that they can live with Donald J. Trump being the next president of the United States. My guess, at this moment in time, is that he almost certainly will be the next President of the United States.

Why?

Interesting question and my answer is probably not one shared by many but here it is for what it’s worth: The illusion of democracy must prevail and the only person in the western hemisphere capable of delivering the illusion of democracy is Donald J. Trump. The darker forces, at this late stage, are in a bind and have possibly come round to the idea of a truce of sorts and a gamble too.

In exchange for the illusion of democracy they are betting Trump will be mostly controllable or distractible. The bad guys, in other words, will be free to pursue a majority of what they seek. Not all but enough.

Clues to this line of thinking are often to be found in the foot-notes and not on the page itself, I believe. Steve Bannon, the face of the America First movement, and Trump’s greatest ally, strategist and cheer-leader is currently serving time in prison. This is most probably a politically motivated short-term jailing but even that detail isn’t the main point. The bigger picture on this detail is very revelatory. Steve Bannon is scheduled to be released from prison next week, a week before the election. If we rewind the clock back four years there is ZERO chance Bannon would’ve been released from prison until after the voting had taken place on November 5th. He’s too big a risk and fly in the ointment.

Another inconvenient truth, and a consequential one, is a Trump loss, whether by means legitimate of illegimate, risks detonating unhealed wounds in the United States as a result of the stealing of the 2020 election. In addition, at this juncture, the US is losing badly an endless, unpopular war in Ukraine along with the madness erupting across Israel and the middle-east. The bad guys are in a delicate and vulnerable position. The darker forces and agendas corrupting the western world have no recent wins to point to and so very badly need the illusion of democracy to live, or risk complete chaos in the months ahead. The ultimate collapse and unravelling of what we know to be “the West” could materialise very quickly indeed.

Now, I utilise these words and terms “ bad guys “ and “ dark forces” as a placeholder. If you consume the external world in a strictly conscious, logical, literal and straight-forward sense you can probably offer forth a list of specific names, groups, companies, and countries in response to the use of the above terms. Personally, I’m more in a space of feeling now to say these forces are energetic. And while many of these people are fully conscious of where they stand and how dark and dangerous what they promote is, I would argue, for more, it is a subconscious trap and many might not be fully conscious of the devilishness of their actions. Herein lies the risk for the ordinary person.

At present, if we were to say the forces of good and evil in the world are both gathering steam - in terms of magnitude - for some type of face-off in the near future, I might, as an addendum say: the present moment then offers the greatest risk of getting sucked into the darker energies quite unbeknownst to oneself. As almost everything in the external world is not as it seems. At home and abroad. The US 2024 presidential election is a great example of this, I believe. So, endeavouring to ensure all within the inner world is as it seems is of paramount importance.

The good news, for me at least, is the next couple of months promises to be a wild ride. I can relatively enjoy the experience of observing the US 2024 election and shenanigans in the aftermath with the added benefits of some of the information garnered back in 2020 without embodying the diamond-tipped, toxic negativity rabbit-hole boring tends to engender in myself. At this stage, ten days out, I would say we are in the temporary eye of a global storm where both bad guys and good guys in this crazy world of ours need Trump to win the 2024 US presidential election.

The global macro - economic and political picture has worsened considerably for the United States through-out the Biden adminsitration which is hardly a surprise given a dementia-ridden pensioner and a hysterically laughing hyena are sitting a-top of it. This has allowed these darker forces - the ones actually deciding outcomes - to proceed with their competing agendas almost unhindered ( but with less and less cheer-leading, I might add). One of the end results of this on-going delinquent behaviour pattern is war as mentioned above. War, or the threat of war, abounds in almost everywhere corner of the globe, an almost unthinkable situation to envisage as recently as four years ago. In short, the bad guys at the heart of the West have received most of what they wanted in the first place. The production of copious amounts of fear, anger, death, negativity and chaos around the non-western world. While the FIAT money machines keep spitting out profits in their general direction. This can’t last, and this won’t last. Meanwhile, the streets of many western societies, Ireland’s chief amongst them, seem increasingly filled with a sedated or inoculated peoples. Oblivious to what should be staring them in the face but almost hypnotised or anaesthetised into acquiescence.

However, the increasing future threat, as I see it, is that the powerhouses driving the west - this undemocratic merge of : dangerous ideology—big media—big corporate— weak political have been getting pulverised by countries like Russia, China and the countries aligning around BRICS. Some leaders of these countries are by no means forces for good and freedom but most possess a recognisable common trait. They are tough guys. The Biden Administration, European Union and NATO are what we might call pretend tough guys.

To explain the above and end this piece I’ll use a boxing quotation. One used by the boxing coach Teddy Atlas, Mike Tyson’s teenage boxing trainer. Again, his is a controversial view on Tyson’s career and describes the flaws inherent in Tyson’s character as an explainer of his defeats as a fighter. Most boxing fans would think of Tyson as the supreme tough guy but Atlas took a very different view of him and used his fights with Evander Holyfield to crystalize his point.

Great Fighters, when the fight comes to them find a way to overcome. Tyson found a way to disappear. Great fighters find a way to show up…..Tyson didn't bite Holyfield's ear because he was this savage or hungry animal. Stop the crap. He was looking for a way to get himself out - because he knew he wasn't that guy, he wasn't a Warrior - or a Samurai - and when you're not "That Guy" - Guess what you have a great talent for recognising……….when somebody else is "

The west can no longer be deemed a great fighter or great defender of freedom. Post pandemic they’ve done a passable imitation of one but that mask is slipping as a queue of Evander Holyfield’s around the world begin tapping them on the chin. Most of the non-western world have woken up to the fact the Western Emperor has very little clothing left. And these western forces aren’t beyond ripping our ears off as a last stand to saving themselves.

The savings of the nation amounts to 170 billion euros resting on deposit in various banks, credit unions and financial institutions. The European Union through an EU Commission body named The Savings and Investments Union are very eager to unlock all of this cash and prise it away from Irish peoples savings and personal accounts.

The sales pitch: To create personal investment accounts for every Irish citizen in the land, then, these savers will be able to increase their household wealth by investing in a range of promoted stocks, bonds and other financial instruments.

Irish mainstream media and the Irish political class have been hyping this initiative over recent weeks and months and an Irish savings and investment scheme is set to be unveiled at the launch of the next budget for 2027.

In 2007, at the height of the Celtic Tiger boom, Irish households held €102 billion in bank deposits and an additional €12 billion in credit union savings— bringing the grand total to roughly €115 billion and some change at the time. Considering that Irish Gross Domestic product has risen three or four-fold in the two decades since 2007, the advertised current value of Irish savings at €165-170 billion isn’t quite as impressive or large sounding as it might first seem to the collective eyes and ears. The private savings of the nation are probably not ready to meet massive adverse financial winds just as they were not in 2007 before the 2008 global financial meltdown. Currently only about 2% of this savings money is tied up in financial investments and other market related instruments. The EU and Irish government want to release it, but for purposes little to do with improving the financial well-being of the average Irish householder, I would suggest.

“Next Tuesday, Mr Harris will convene a Savings and Investment Forum - bringing together relevant industry and policy stakeholders to inform the process of establishing a new investment account.

A spokesman for the Tánaiste said Minister Harris “believes we need to strengthen Ireland’s investment culture, giving people real opportunities to make more of their hard-earned money”.

The minister aims to introduce the scheme as part of Budget 2027 so accounts will be operational next year. “ RTE NEWS, March 29th 2026.

As stated above, the Minister with responsibility, and championing the investment scheme in Ireland, is Finance minister Simon Harris, or perhaps, a better description of his brief might be to wonder if he’s now also the Minister for gambling and weaponised autism. At the very moment western stock markets are beginning to resemble a global Ponzi scheme again, Harris is encouraging savers to bet big. Cheerleading a scheme like this—at this precise global moment—is a bit like when the local bank manager encouraged the purchase of Bank of Ireland shares at 18 euro a share in early 2007. But the timing and imminent global pandemonium isn’t at all the worst part of this money grab.

So, what is actually happening?

Global finance, Fintech and the EU are drooling over our 165 billion yoyos like a skulk of foxes looks over at a new born lamb is nothing new in one sense.

But, why this proposal, though?

The simple answer is they’re broke. And to pursue their goals they need lots and lots of fresh private cash and a taxation scheme won’t work. Lest anyone be in any doubt about what the current agenda of the European Commission is let’s spell it out here—Irish capital will be used for the pursuit of War, Deep AI and climate ideologies. To prove this I merely need to point you in the direction of the words that spells this out and merely taken from their official statements on this subject.

As referenced earlier the Irish scheme is heavily influenced by the broader European Union plan named the European Savings and Investment Union.

What exactly is the European Savings and Investments Union I hear you ask?

“ The savings and investments union is a horizontal enabler that will create a financing ecosystem to benefit investments in the EU’s strategic objectives. Europe’s capacity to address current challenges – such as climate change, rapid technological shifts and new geopolitical dynamics – demands significant investments…” - European commission, Finance, March 2, 2026.

Now, just on the off chance that the Minister for weaponised autism is reading this - new geopolitical dynamics is bog-man’s language for war and its industries. So, to be clear this isn’t an investment vehicle for householders to track any old stocks and bonds that they choose. No, it is one that pursues the overall agendas of the European Commission and whatever corrupt stakeholders are leeching off that dying carcass. In short Irish money will be invested in new and emerging war industries, deeper AI infrastructure and climate. All of which are corroding and damaging the day-to-day life experiences of the average Irish householder from sky-rocketing petrol and diesel prices to technology addiction to destabilised electricity grids.

Harris and the Irish government have zero input into the wider EU plan but function as the local marketing team who provide the sales pitch which in this instance is a legislative loop-hole and carrot that will ensure no capital gains tax is applied to any profits earned by Irish savers partaking in one of the investment vehicles. RTE help them along by highlighting this aspect in paragraph one of their news reporting on the subject while ignoring anything potentially nefarious.

“There will be no capital gains tax applied to income earned under the new investment scheme being developed by the Tánaiste and Minister for Finance Simon Harris.

The Cabinet was briefed about the new savings and investment account earlier this week, but details are just emerging.

Ministers were told that the preferred model being examined is a Swedish system called Investeringssparkonto (ISK)” RTE NEWS, March 29th 2026.

So, on one side of this financial equation Irish tax-payers via the Irish taxation system already contribute heavily to these promoted EU industries, while now, on the other, private citizens disposal income and savings will also be directed into these arenas as well.

Apparently, we here in Ireland have a minister for Nature. This fact has managed to escape my attention until earlier this morning. The junior minister’s name with responsibility is Christopher O’Sullivan, a Fianna Fáil TD representing Cork South-West. Born in the early 80s, I guess he’d best be described as one of these new AI Fianna Fáil politicians who on their confirmation day chose Biodiversity as a confirmation name rather than Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. At the time of writing Mother Nature is unavailable for comment as to how she feels about answering to Mr. O’Sullivan on all things nature and under her control. O’Sullivan has dreams, though, so hopefully she plans a suitably brambled response to his political fantasies.

According to an interview O’Sullivan granted to The Journal and published today, Nolan has big plans for nature. Specifically he promises that Fianna Fail and the Irish state will purchase lots and lots of private land to then turn into nature reserves and national parks and whatever else pops into his head. As to why our state need to own the land to do this Minister O’Sullivan had the following to say to the Journal:

“The reason I say that is when the State owns land, like in the Killarney National Park or Connemara National Park, or Páirc Náisiúnta na Mara, we can control the activities within there. We can decide what measures we take without having to necessarily consult with private land owners,”

Ah, I see, control, control, control.

This quote above might be the most perfect sentence I have ever read in terms of how our government, state agencies and media really view the people they allegedly serve. The land owners, electorate and the great unwashed are people our government would prefer not to deal with or tolerate when they’re oh, I don’t know, thieving 27 billion a year to run a Third World health service or stealing the land from beneath our feet. In these circumstances we are a mighty inconvenience to them all. I guess, though, when our state feel they own us they’re not accountable to us…..kinda deal. When they compulsory order land purchases they can control what goes on there, and, of course, there is nothing to hinder them re-selling or re-zoning that land in the future at some point of national crisis or institutional folly.

As we are not a gun-totting nation the single biggest line item we have going in our favour and defence, and in the collective defence of the nation, is that private people, Irish men and women, own the vast majority of our land. The next frontier in government policy is to flip this switch fast, and as quickly as they destroyed the population demographics over the last fifteen years, transfer control of the land to nefarious, badly run public agencies or to whatever non-Irish entities they choose to partner up with in the future. Public land ownership controls access to our countryside and nature. A nature-less, 9-5 herding of tourist cattle in and out of it at their discretionary control. Of course, the same ludramáns will charge us heftily for the privilege. At the present time, Coillte, the semi-state agency with responsibility for Ireland’s forests manages 9% of Ireland’s land via our state controlled forests and national parks. Remember what a wonderful job those guys did in the aftermath of Storm Eowyn 12 months ago. But alas, 9% isn’t nearly enough for Mother Nature’s boss, Christopher ‘Walken’ O’Sullivan.

Hmmm. Now ask yourself another question. In the sentence above who exactly are the “ us “ to whom he refers?

Where exactly does he propose raising the funding to purchase 25,000 acres of land a year?

Would that be through a government GoFundMe exercise or would it be coming from the same “ Us “ through taxation ?

I think we all know the answer. ‘We’ buy the land and then ‘We’ pay to access it. If we are allowed to access it at all that is.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin is the architect of modern-day Fianna Fáil and O’Sullivan is the prototype progressive politician he’s filled the benches with over the last fifteen years. He is indistinguishable from most politicians on the left and hard-left. Chasing short-term, feel-good, celebratory click applause. Over long-term, difficult jigsaw piece planning. This is Martin’s legacy to Ireland. A nation once run and owned by 10,000 landlords is now speedily being taken over by an out of control state. Enoch Burke is back in the High Court this morning—his short-lived exile from Mountjoy once more in jeopardy. But, but, but…..this time might be his most noteworthy appearance to date. Because this time he returns with no little wind in his sails. A mere forty-eight hours after Burke’s court sanctioned escape from prison Breakingnews.ie informed us of the following little tit-bit last Friday afternoon:

A judge has ordered that teacher Enoch Burke be arrested and brought before the High Court on Monday to say why he should not be sent back to prison after he again breached an order not to trespass on Wilson's Hospital School in Westmeath.

So, let’s indulge in a little recent, less than one-week-old history. Last Wednesday, for some inexplicable reason the Irish justice system in its infinite wisdom decided to drop-kick Enoch Burke out onto the streets from Mountjoy correctional facility—home to dastardly felons and history teachers. Well, I say inexplicable but a rationale was provided to the public. Enoch Burke was set free to allow him time to prepare for his court case. Awwww…. now wasn’t that just completely lovely of the band of misfit, demonic toys running Irish justice altogether. Except for an inconvenient fact. The stated grounds for release were a complete and utter fabrication and a holiday pass they don’t afford too many other incarcerated prisoners awaiting trial, I believe.

Anywiz….

This logic is one that a five-year-old Enoch Burke would have seen through and recognised immediately. Never mind the thirty-five year old battle hardened school-teacher the judiciary are currently dealing with unsuccessfully. When the judicial system released Enoch Burke last Wednesday they were laying a trap for him and not a very clever one. Obviously, the Irish state absolutely wanted Burke to show up at his place of work, Wilson’s Hospital school in Westmeath on the day following his getaway from Mountjoy. Burke duly obliged but not before setting a trap of his own.

Last week, the Irish public were treated to a different Enoch Burke. A man measured, several ounces calmer, and effortlessly self assured as he executed his next move in this elongated, pressure cooker of a chess match. Now, though, Burke was fully on point and striding purposefully out of prison with his head held high as he brazenly chastised the courts about the wrongness of his new found freedom.

“ I will say simply today, this is a trap by Judge Cregan, it’s a stitch up letting me out. Judge Cregan knows well where I will be tomorrow “

The theatre of his address to mainstream news and media outside Mountjoy was a masterclass. Confident, certain, and enunciating words alive with controlled fury. The tell was the reaction of the same pack of media hounds lapping up his speech. Hushed respect. Bloody but unbowed he’s ripped it from the centre of their chests over the last three years with now only the clickety-click of cameras to be heard in response. The media may still type poison in his direction but unfortunately truth is a great silencer in the physical domain still.

Enoch Burke in case you missed it is now on offence. Completely.

In his address Burke further described his release as a ‘travesty’ and a key difference on this appearance in front of the mainstream lens—to previous ones—is that he rightly noted that other prisoners were not afforded the same concessions to prepare for their cases as the courts were inexplicably now affording to him. Odd, indeed. Considering a straw-poll of Irish Judges and the law library would probably still vote to crucify Jesus Christ and free Barabbas.

Finally, Burke contrasted the decision to suddenly set him free with the extremely harsh words of the same Judge, Judge Cregan, a little over a month ago as reported by RTE on December 12th.

Judge Cregan said Mr Burke was in blatant contempt of orders of the court and no amount of wishing it away would wash that away. The judge said he was not now going to review the matter on 18 December as originally planned.

He told Mr Burke the court was not going to release him at Christmas, Easter or during the summer holidays and he said he would not be released until he purges his contempt by agreeing to stay away from the school.

Hmmm.

Details like these above, though small, are very significant and are now resonating with the general public when pointed out succinctly as Burke did last Wednesday outside Mountjoy. In addition, he exposed the trap in advance, and so now this morning a curious thing will occur. Public eyes will be trained on a High Court Judge more than they will be on Burke.

All-in-all, our law as presented in this case is an ass and the Irish legal system is a drove, herd or pace of asses. Pick the collective term most suited to your palate. As outlined earlier Enoch Burke duly rocked up to Wilson’s Hospital school on Thursday morning and by Friday evening he was scheduled for arrest again and moronically pencilled down for appearance in the High Court this morning to explain himself. Lest we be in any doubt, he’s appearing in court today to explain why he did exactly what the state and judge encouraged him to do.

So, the courts are scrambling, the government are nowhere to be seen and I suspect significant pressure is being applied now from the United States on Burke’s behalf. A flurry of mainstream polls on this subject at the weekend suggest public opinion is turning in his favour. Enoch Burke has spent 560 days and some loose change locked up in jail over the past three years on a civil contempt charge. One he refuses to purge and one the courts and public know he will never purge. Given this, the public are asking a new question.

Why did they let him out?

Why indeed. Burke’s answer sounds closer to the truth than his opponents.

How this matter has been allowed to drag on for three and half years without resolution is a stunning indictment of the Irish legal system. The system is now looking a complete mess with global eyes focused on it. I want to repeat that on this occasion Burke seems a very different man. He’s grown stronger. For much of the past three years as this saga has unfolded and state pressure ratcheted up, the Burkes and Enoch himself have been a family on defence on multiple fronts. Mocked, ridiculed and the butt of every joke. Nobody was laughing outside Mountjoy last Wednesday. The tide is turning, I feel.

Rules have been bent, broken and ignored altogether to entice this family to shut up and end their defiance. Unfortunately, though, for Mickey Martin and the Space Cadets singing hoarsely out of tune—the bespectacled garsún that first entered Mountjoy has emerged from his latest prison stint a righteous gladiator. And that’s what’s facing them later today and by time you read this he’ll be back in jail.

However if the state lose, they lose.

But now, if they win, they lose even bigger.

Once upon a long time ago, on most weekend evenings, a moment would arrive when I could be located on some artery boulevard off Grafton Street in Dublin, standing in line at an ATM machine. Queueing semi-impatiently for access to some additional resources for the night ahead. On one of these occasions a friend was with me and enquired of me the answer to the great philosophical question of Ireland’s Celtic Tiger times.

“ Do you think you’ve ever made a good decision at an ATM machine after 9 o’clock in the evening? “

Hmmm.

Obviously, the question lingers because my response was not an immediate yes. In fact, I might well still be considering the answer twenty five years later. Sometimes, though, the oddly framed question sheds a world of new insight and food for thought on an old subject line.

In this post-human age, the same kind of question bubbles to the surface whenever I wander out to the edge of town and visit the N17 Supermac’s plaza on the weekends. As I shuffle inside the automatic doors the eternal question is waiting for me on the left-hand side.

“ Is it a good idea to pause at the newspaper stand and reflect on today’s front page headlines? “

To stop or not to stop—the Shakespearean inner inquiry at play. Probably not a good investment of time but alas I still entertain it and I’m glad I did tonight. But more on that a little later. First, though, let’s take a spin down to Waterford and ponder on the world of changing flight patterns.

Settle in, we might be circling the airport for awhile.

On October 20th 2025, a special sitting of Waterford county and city council was held. On the agenda was the rubberstamping of a mysterious 30 million euro investment in Waterford city airport. Curiously, the identity of the private investor was withheld from the public at the time and remained confidential at the final decision making stage. But, the investor’s legal representative, Mason, Hayes and Curran did confirm that the financier was a US national with significant business interests and that the individual had the financial capacity to deliver a redevelopment of the airport—to include expansion of the existing runway to 2,287 metres and widening of it to 45 metres. However, a key element of the deal-making process was to keep buyer’s anonymity in place. Quite unusual. Councillor and Mayor of Waterford city had the following to say on the subject as per a October 20th press release on the Waterford county council website.

“This is a historic day for Waterford and for the entire South East. Waterford Airport is a critical piece of regional infrastructure, and I am confident this €30 million investment will lead to a return of commercial air services to Waterford. This represents a huge vote of confidence in Waterford and is a game changer for the region. It will help us attract further inward investment, create jobs, drive tourism and bring the South East closer to the world.”

The usual political blah, blah, blah, in other words.

Interestingly though, at the time of the deal, the existing main shareholder, William Bolster, was questioned by broadcaster Damien Tiernan on Waterford local radio about rumours that the investor behind the Waterford airport deal was a big US Republican party donor and Trump financial supporter. Tiernan further questioned whether that could open the door to military-style flights into Waterford—similar to concerns frequently raised about the use of Shannon airport.

Bolster admitted the issue of “military flights” had been discussed, but attempted to diffuse the significance of any such use of the airport and ruled out any green-lighting for them locally—stressing that all such decisions would sit with the Department of Foreign Affairs. This is not exactly news to warm the turf fire of my heart considering Helen McEntee is the current occupant-in-chief of this Irish government department. Meaning Irish foreign affairs might be actually running via algorithm and employing the janitorial service wings of the CIA, MI5, Mossad and the Chinese Ministry for State Security simultaneously on government contracts at the weekends. And during the week too.

At any rate, the New Year has blown in some transparency on the blustery Atlantic winds. The identity of the mysterious purchaser has fully come to light. The €30 million investment is led by US billionaire Kelcy Warren, and yes, he’s a very significant donor to the US Republican party and known super-fan of the Trumpster. Various different media sources put Warren’s funding of Trump’s three US presidential campaigns in the 16 - 20 million US dollar range. Or equivalent to the price of an undervalued regional airport. Unsurprisingly, the Texan billionaire’s main source of wealth is from oil and gas pipelines.

Warren’s property interests include an 8,000-acre ranch in Texas and a private island in Honduras (these pesky billionaires and their secret islands, eh). But a further Irish connection exists. Kelcy Warren bought Castletown Cox Estate in south Kilkenny for €12 million yoyos and some change in 2018. The estate is approximately 513 acres in size and features a Palladian residence of some 35,000 square feet. Ah sure, what’s another 500 acres of Irish resources under foreign ownership amongst friends and allies.

Now, a key to the Waterford airport deal included the selling of eighty-five hectares ( 210 acres ) of public lands to facilitate the investment and re-development plans. The expansion will allow for the accommodation of larger jets and facility upgrades, with construction expected to start very soon and last about a year. On December 8 2025, shareholders agreed to dissolve Waterford Regional Airport Plc, the entity that has controlled Waterford Airport for the past 44 years. In addition, the aforementioned lands owned by Waterford city and county council will be transferred to the new Waterford Airport Limited – a company recently established by the largest old shareholder in the airport, the Bolster Group, to onboard the new largest shareholder—the illustrious Mr Warren.

This eight-five hectares of public land, valued at €2.3 million, was sold to the new Irish company (but controlled by a US multi-billionaire) for the princely sum of €50,000. Critically too, the county council approved the waiving of a 670,000 euro loan owed by the current owners and operators Waterford Regional Airport plc.

Ah now, isn’t that lovely of us. And it is “us” by the way, Joe and Josephine public, footing the bill and selling Irish land assets at a 98% discount—though we are rarely invited to the photo-ops by local and national media. Perhaps, because we may not be smiling in the Instagram reels without the assistance of highly advanced AI software after reading the fine-print of the contracts. Now, wouldn’t it be a mighty world altogether if we could all access this type of considerate, knee-sore, and cock-gobbling class of politician and public servant that seems to miraculously appear genuflecting at the altar of non-Irish billionaires. Instead of the ones slipping demand letters and bills through our letter-boxes?

This folks, is what we might call modern-day asset or resource stripping of a nation. Granted, a small example but a good one nonetheless, I think. Cross-party support for the Waterford airport deal copper fastens the notion in my mind. A very, very obvious question should now be considered.

Why did our own government not make this 30 million euro infrastructure investment into Waterford Airport considering the public already owned the needed land for expansion?

30 million euro is a rather trivial amount given the investment opens up and expands a potentially huge regional resource. This might be a good time to remind people that in April of 2025 then Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe provided the World Bank with €141.4 million in Irish funding, even as officials in his own department recommended contributing significantly less. So, these airport monies, or a goodly portion of them, could’ve been easily allocated to Irish infrastructure projects instead of to a global institution of questionable value to the Irish nation.

In preference to the outcome suggested above we sold 210 acres of public land for ha’pennies on the pound. For 50,000 pieces of silver-less euros. Now, in other, unrelated news, Paschal Donohue is no longer employed as our Minister for Finance but instead is currently filing and clipping his nails at the World Bank for 400 grand a year. I suppose, another philosophical thought to ponder in these times is to consider my earlier question in a slightly different manner.

Has the Irish government ever made a good decision at the public ATM machine after 7 o’clock in the morning or indeed at any time of the day or night?

But there is more.

In another N17 Supermac’s plaza exclusive, The Sunday Times ran a rather odd front-pager today. The headline informs the great and the good that over 12,000 US military flights have flown through Irish airspace over the last ten years. Interesting timing, I’d say. I will hazard a wild guess and opine that these flights are increasing not decreasing over the last couple of years and are likely to accelerate even further in the years ahead. The article doesn’t offer comment as to how many of those flights might have extended tails of white smoke trailing across Irish skies but sure that is work for another day, and another newspaper probably.

Ireland is in an interesting spot at present, on many fronts, but not least in its physical geographical location. As global tectonic plates of political power and competing dynasties shift and meet head-on, strange earthquakes are erupting around the globe. In the struggle between east versus west, Europe seems to be the designated sacrificial lamb. As it gets mightily squeezed from both the US and the axis of Russia and China. In these circumstances the south-east of Ireland is quite the vantage point to view proceeding and ideally placed as a carrier base for US military aircraft I would have thought. Both as a place to meet rising tensions with Russia and also as a location to observe and oversee its interests, investments and control of Europe. Ahem, sorry I mean protection of Europe.

Sounds a little fantastical?

Perhaps, Perhaps not.

At present, almost all theatres of war and conflict are about a single issue when boiled down to their essence.

Control of the world’s natural resources.

Whether it be control of Venezuela, Ukraine, Burkina Faso, or even Greenland. And lest anyone here is still living under a rock, I’d advise them to check who owns it as Ireland is very much a target and part and parcel of the gluttonous global resource grab. While the citizenry of the world are herded like sheep into a digital pen, the real power players are after very real things. Digital hypnosis and slavery cannot exist and succeed without the physical.

Sleepy Greenland is a great example of these power manoeuvres. The untapped potential of its landmass is probably the last great unmined mountain range of raw materials in the world. These include critical resources such as lithium and rare earth elements that are essential to keep the “green” technology globalists afloat, but whose production are highly sensitive in many countries that are home to cathedrals of climate-worshipping. Yet without them that faux, feel-good world sinks. Additionally Greenland is rich in the other historically valuable minerals and metals, with huge potential volumes of hydrocarbons including oil and gas.

In short, everything centres on resources, resources, and more natural resources. The political sphere of influence who controls the most wins the world war.

I suppose, the Irish point here is this: While massive nations duke it out for control of raw materials, Ireland is selling off its land, infrastructure and seas like it’s Black Friday seven days a week, fifty two weeks a year. The Waterford Airport deal is a microcosm of the silent, almost invisible erosion of our sovereignty and resources over the last fifty years. Publicly politicians wank each other off at the creation of 100 or 150 jobs and opening up new Ryanair routes around Europe, while privately the billionaires class focus on becoming trillionaires and steal control of another 200 acres of Irish land and public infrastructure. This is true across Irish agriculture, fisheries, telecommunications, motorways, electricity sourced by renewable energy and any new state project advertised as: Public/Private partnership. The WEF dream is already in place here. You’ll own nothing and be happy with an Irish addendum. And what you don’t own your government has already sold us at a discount too.

A very real question the people in the sunny south-east should be considering is a very real one.

Is Waterford now a covert US military base?

The sad part about the answer, whether yea or nay, is that a significant majority of the population don’t really give a fuck either way as long as Michael O’Leary adds Tenerife to the outbound flight schedule.

There is a final, serious point to this article and it has little to do with Texan billionaires, humpty-dumpty politicians or the great war for material wealth and post-human civilisation. Unfortunately, as I alluded to at the outset, I made the grand mistake of halting in front of the newspaper stand inside the door of Supermacs. The contents of those papers I have scribbled something about here through-out but a final headline from a provincial paper hit home hard. A boiler-plate from the Connacht Tribune. So much so that I picked it up and bought it, along with a pouch of Amber Leaf tobacco.

As you can see from the image above the Irish Health Service is making cuts again. Cuts to the dying. Those leaving this world for the next one are no longer afforded the Last Rites at night in University Hospital Galway. The first paragraph of the Connacht Tribune piece lays it all out rather starkly.

“ Patients who die after 9pm at University Hospital Galway (UHG) may not get the Last Rites because the HSE has stopped providing a 24-hours a day chaplaincy service at the West of Ireland’s only major acute hospital “

The HSE has confirmed that the chaplaincy service has been reduced to 12 hours a day. Initially, the HSE attempted to insinuate that the reduction was due to a shortage of priests but Church sources have strenuously denied the claim and for once I believe the Church over the State. Not that I have great faith in the governing authorities of either.

Now, those of a sensitive nature might be advised to close their eyes for the next sentence as it involves introducing a quotation from the HSE insane asylum and I probably won’t be able to fully contain myself. A spokesperson for the collective of spastics running the Irish Health Service Executive finally issued the following response to the Connacht Tribune in relation to the Last Rites query.

“ In order to ensure the HSE is in compliance with relevant employment legislation from the end of May 2025 there was a change in relation to Roman Catholic Chaplins.”

Apparently, the application of the Last Rites to the dying is now a matter of employment legislation. This is the spiritless nation we are sprinting towards becoming and committed to living in. We can find 2.1 million euros worth of land discounts to give to US controlled airfields but can’t find the resources to ensure our most vulnerable people, breathing their last breaths on this earth, have access to spiritual comfort, forgiveness of sins, and preparation for the afterlife.

Why?

Because none of these malignant fuck-wits truly believe in an after-life. They only believe in materialism and billionaires and if that means tarmacking a runway over your gravestone—well they’ll probably do that too.

I’ve been pretty disconnected from all things political for the past two months. On returning to Twitter this evening I notice Minister for Finance Paschal Donohue is heading off on a jolly to the World Bank. Sounds about right, I guess. It’s a quite remarkable phenomenon developing here in Ireland over the last couple of years—politicians and senior health officials bailing out on their country for private sector deals and global positions of power.

But, at least on this occasion Ireland can sleep easy knowing the actuarial prowess of Simon Harris is now stepping into the big-time Finance position to replace Donohue. Fine Gael insiders whisper that he played a crucial role ensuring 1.5 billion was overspent on the new Children’s hospital while simultaneously managing the weekly shopping at Super-Valu for his family— two key skills edging things in his favour over direct intervention by the Open Society Foundation.

Two questions pop into my mind on hearing Donohue is off to the globalist piggy bank in Washington DC:

Will Gerry “The Monk” Hutch contest Donohoe’s vacant Dáil Seat in Dublin Central?

Is “The Monk’s” skill-set more in-tune with running the World Bank than Donohue’s?

Both Hutch and Donohue ran for parliamentary election in the same constituency last time round. I’d imagine Hutch will have learned a thing or two about a thing or two after his rushed electoral experience in late 2024. It will be interesting to see if he takes a second bite at the cherry.

However, the main reason I am typing tonight is to observe that Donohue is the latest member of the Lockdown Lotharios to bail out of government into a cushy number with an institution of questionable global integrity. The list grows.

I don’t think I’ll ever quite acquire complete Alzheimer’s for the last three months of 2021 and the cast of characters who were involved in Irish politics, state institutions and media at that time. So I’ve compiled a list and I am checking it twice, to keep an eye on what some of these characters are doing now. It makes for interesting reading.

Paschal Donohoe

• 2021 role: Minister for Finance and Eurogroup President; Fine Gael TD.

• 2025 role: Still Minister for Finance and Eurogroup President, but has agreed to become Managing Director & Chief Knowledge Officer at the World Bank (appointment announced 2025, to take effect before year-end).

Over the last week or so, three data points keep recycling onto my digital timelines. First up, India day, and all the hullabaloo in the media regarding alleged attacks on the Indian community in Ireland which apparently led to the postponement of Indian celebrations of their national day in Ireland this year. Due, in the main, to fears of attracting hate and acts of violence. Questionable to say the least.

The second viral item is Gareth Sheridan. A thirty five year old entrepreneur and businessman, best known as the founder of pharma company Nutriband. Sheridan has decided he’s gonna run for the presidency of Ireland of all things and just barely makes the age requirement. The things Irish millennials will do to find affordable housing these days is quite remarkable, Ted.

Finally, the last of the trio, is the Mise Éire festival. An event organised by Steven Kerr and others celebrating all things Irish. A bit of chat, music and banter. A nine hour event, taking place in ten days or so, causing also sorts of bizarre media fury and uproar.

An invisible thread links all three, I’d venture. Especially, with the outrageous levels of hype attending to the India day and Gareth Sheridan story-lines in Irish media circles.

The reason for the intense focus on the plight of Indian nationals by the Irish government and media seems clear to me. India represents good migration to Ireland Inc and the politicians that Ireland Inc controls. Both sectors would like more of it. Indians are the largest ethnic grouping of economic migrants living here. Primarily employed in the tech and health sectors.

Put, a different way, the government believe if they win the Indian argument with the Irish people they can win all immigration arguments in one fell swoop and possibly make a case for more hate speech laws too.

Generally speaking, and to engage in a bit of light hearted stereo-typing, I like Indians. They seem to generally go about their business quietly and also seem family-orientated. Just as I like the chilled Brazilians with their tanned, over-tattooed dudes and attractive, jiggedy assed ladies.

But, obviously, there are far, far, far too many of both ethnic groups living and working in Ireland. These two countries fill the number one and number two slots on the net inward migration numbers board coming into Ireland. These are not economic migrants masked as refugees but simply economic migrants. The Irish government are, and have been, lashing out visas to both groups, at startling rates, for pushing on a decade now.

The government don’t want to have the numbers game argument, though. Because they’d lose it heavily. The hate argument, on the other hand, is one they believe they can win by utilizing hate and fear as a weapon of mass submissiveness.

Now, at the same time as all of this India business is going on, the European Union are pushing hard for Ireland to implement more in the line of hate speech laws. Threatening huge fines etc, etc. if legislation is not introduced over the next couple of months. Bizarrely, this is not an Irish fight with Irish fighters defending us. But, a face-off between the Trump administration and the EU dictatorate in Brussels. Both sides are agreed on only one thing. It is not a right of the Irish to decide these pesky, minor little details.

Into this mixing bowl we throw the unknown name of Gareth Sheridan. Well, unknown until about five days ago that is. He’s this year’s wild card choice for the Irish presidential fantasy election. Immediately, the media have fallen in love with him. The intense attraction is based on a single reason. They love him so they can media-abuse his adopted daughter to pursue a multicultural agenda.

The digital reaction to both the Indian controversy and Gareth Sheridan have so far had the desired effect. Lots and lots of manufactured reaction, some actual racist response, and enough negativity to start stirring the far-right pot good and fast again. The state, media, and government do not want nuanced considerations of these two narratives. They want to engineer a hate response, and if at all possible, engineer a hate event. At this moment in time, the government need some kind of triggering event to help them along.

So, I believe, this is the primary reason the Irish media and political establishment have taken such a weird, over-the-top reaction to the Mise Eire festival. A pretty well-known group of speakers and musicians for the last few years and not, by anyone’s calculation, living in a village within an ass’s roar of one titled far-right.

The original location for the festival, a community centre, in Drumshambo, closed its doors to the organisers soon after agreeing to host the event. Very quickly, the state, far-left and media, along with the backing vocals of a band of aging, virtue-signalling musical fruitcakes successfully transformed a festival into a political statement. No accident, I’d say. And changes the energy entirely.

Mise Éire is now a statement about freedom of speech. A line in the sand day. A debate the government is desperate to have at precisely this moment. But, they need to have it with people they hope to isolate and prod into reaction. Prod into over reaction. In the media and government spin logic, Drumshambo community centre saying No to this festival equates to average Ireland saying Yes to more Hate speech laws.

A new, undisclosed location has been sourced for Mise Éire but I wouldn’t be under any illusions. The state will know where it is and my sense would be they probably privately want the event to go ahead now but to keep the organisers looking over their shoulders in the days leading up to it.

On the day, the Irish State might well try to engineer trouble. The media over-reaction is the clue and evidence. The other simultaneous narratives at play is another clue. As the state needs a triggering event before the Dáil returns to business in September.

Hopefully, all goes ahead as planned and it’s a day of warmth and good Irish vibes. It would beneficial if some of the independent elected politicians, who supposedly defend free speech in Dublin, lent the weight of their voices to back this event publicly. And headed out West to support and protect it from state interference.

One of the celebrated Irish minds of a generation past is the reasoning center that is Michael McDowell. McDowell, like many of both a mindful and mindless nature in the nation, has been slowly ‘ sitting up and ateing a bit ‘ over the last while, as we’d say here in the West of Ireland. I find him a curiosity more than anything else nowadays. As he mooches about in the back kitchen pouring a drop of milk into his bowl of Rice Krispies. Not quite sure whether to put the spoon in his mouth or shove it into one of his armpits. Yet, slowly, he’s starting to snap, crackle and pop some sleep from his eyes.

For those unaware, McDowell is a former attorney generalissimo, three-term Irish TD, former Minister for Justice, and leader of the now dearly departed Progressive Democrats party. A party he lead into the 2007 General election with eight TD’s and efficiently and effortlessly slimmed down to a party of two after the same election. Losing his own seat into the bargain.

In recent years, he’s settled comfortably into the Seanad as a some time outspoken and effective independent senator. But, one who still tends to go missing on All-Ireland final Sundays. His unique selling point as a politician is his undoubted intellect. In a modern political landscape where intelligence is outsourced to AI or ideological banana plantations, his unique mind ability differentiates him even more obviously from his peers than in previous decades. Unfortunately, his mind is also his Achilles heel, I feel.

Whether through politics or profession ( a long-standing barrister & senior counsel), an inner superiority complex throbs away, even still, as he shuffles towards the mid-point of his eighth decade on planet earth. But, to give him his due, McDowell’s done the state a little service at various points along the way, and in recent times too.

The Irish Times still afford him an opinion column, pieces of writing he usually publishes on his own website too. His latest post, on July 30th, is quite stunningly direct on immigration.

Finally.

“ Trump, alas, is right on migration. The European Union member states need to get real. According competence to the EU in relation to external migration and asylum seeking has turned out to be a disastrous error. The European Union is – and has been – utterly incompetent to deal with the inevitable conflation between external migration and asylum seeking. Schengen is in suspense, and the much vaunted migration pact simply will not work “

Further on he says the following…

Is the term “racket” too extreme? I don’t think so. Only the very naive or the wilfully ideologically blind believe that there is some absolute international right for would-be migrants in Vietnam, Somalia, the Maghreb, sub-Saharan Africa or elsewhere to demand entry to and permanent residence in the individual EU member states based on asserted asylum need.

Well, well, well, I guess with June’s pride bunting boxed away on time this year, July must’ve been far-right experimentation month down at the law library. Tragically, though, McDowell is three years late to the type of wedding, he once upon a time, enthusiastically used to wedding plan. For example, in 2004, it was McDowell who proposed a citizenship referendum to end automatic birth-right citizenship for those born on the island of Ireland. A referendum passed with an overwhelming majority at the time. If ever a single, item-line political milestone highlighted how far we have travelled as a country in twenty years, it might well be this one.

Today, a good chunk of that majority, seem oblivious to the EU sponsored carpet-bombing of the country-side sheds with economic migrants. These human trafficking slatted houses, erected with invisible IPAS signage, are not the blue and white trademark of Kelly’s in Portlaoise anymore and filled with hay. But, the most visible icing on an immigration cake gone hay-wire and threatening to block all the main arteries pumping blood into the beating heart of the nation.

This complete, complex destruction of a common, shared Irish reality is not alone almost fully complete but is a mere short number of years away from being an Irish reality totally forgotten by the majority and consigned to the legend of myth.

Unfortunately, McDowell’s harsh words and newfound zeal for applying his considerable intellect to the current immigration crisis is an endeavour arriving far too late. His intuition ought to have led his mind to this place a lot, lot sooner. But, alas, it didn’t.

It would be easy to offer up something conciliatory at this point. Words along the lines of: Better late than never - but that would be to miss the tip of the current arrows pointed in our direction. The digital and physical times ahead are an all-out war on mind matters and human attention. The more time lived in the head, the greater the potential dangers to be faced.

Opening your eyes, just a little, and this can be seen everywhere. From Gaza to to the Galway races. Nothing is quite as it seems. In a certain sense, the intellectually refined, inclined and reclined are likely to suffer most in the new epoch and more quickly too. The times ahead, I feel, will require a transition from human trust in the logical production processes of the mind and packaged consumption of the world that way, to a much more intuitively guided system of living. Well, to have any hopes of entertaining notions of enjoying the experience rather than suffering through it. A splitting of realities in a very real sense. A choice between selecting one of the emerging AI induced realities taking shape and assaulting human consciousness, or attempting to create your own. Most people don’t or won’t expend the energy to attempt the latter, and even more probably, don’t believe my hypothesis about the former.

So, lets amuse ourselves and return to the matrix of matted cowpats for a few paragraphs more.

A big problem, infrequently mentioned, facilitating the Irish population take-over is the consistent visual propaganda. The matrix of mainstream media and politics makes the viewer still believe in an old, basic truth no longer valid:

Ireland is filled to the brim with Irish people.

Zap on any Irish television station, news channel or political programme and, by and large, you will find that the vast majority of the cast of characters informing us are Irish people. Political debate and exchanges from elected representatives in Dail Eireann and the Seanad, will be the same - a vast majority of Irish faces and accents not reflective of the new society they’ve helped to create.

Of course, the trick is a simple one. The viewer is subliminally hypnotised into believing the population of Ireland is of a similiar nature and make-up to the one on their screens and not the one in front of their eyes. Unhappily, it most certainly is not. For more accuracy, walk into a petrol station, supermarket, hotel, cafe or motor-factors and just take a gander around. Watch, observe and listen. Silently tot, just how many times the voices and faces around you are not of this land. I think you’ll be kinda shocked by just how many of these scenarios result in math where the figure is over fifty percent.

The reality of the Irish elites is not the reality of the ordinary. They are actually the ones stuck in a time-warp and because they have been spinning around in it for quite some time they probably believe we still have time. When the truth is: time is very nearly up.

Out in the real world, greater problems face those trying to overcome the obstacles presented to them. Not least that they are consuming and negotiating them in isolation, without a map and without the foundational support of a nation behind them anymore.

Current Irish reality which might best be described as a mix of digital intoxication while trying to hold down a job, might tilt on its axis tomorrow, and the day after that again, and one must be ever mindful that other reality mixes also exist simultaneously and threaten to suck people in or tempt them in. Quite exhausting to keep up with, so more and more I try not to. This is especially problematic in the arena of the written word. In this regard, intuition is the new authentic fact-check. Does this feel right as opposed to what the supposed facts point to.

Which leads me back to Senator McDowell.

The McDowell article quoted above and below actually commences with a commentary on the EU/US tariff negotiations. Three years ago, or maybe even two, I would have loved to have read this piece. But, that word ‘alas’ again.

I am somewhere else now.

It remains to be seen whether the so-called deal on tariffs announced on Sunday between the United States and European Union, imposing a general 15 per cent tariff on nearly all EU member states’ exports to the US, is a serious economic setback for the bloc in general or the Republic in particular.

Leaving aside, that it is pretty clear the last five months of this year promises to be more barren on the US export front in comparison to the first seven months; especially, once the panicked US stockpiling of Irish goods, in the early part of 2025, are thrown into the fifteen percent US tariff mixing bowl. Another, non-fact based problem emerges from the mist. McDowell is talking in a tone of sane economic metrics and sane political thinking that no longer lives.

Once more, another reality might well exist in this tariff negotiation and outcome. Not spoken of. But, it involves stepping into deeper less certain waters. It is to comment on the obvious choreography, body language and inauthenticity of the whole Trump and Van der Leyen tariff summit.

Far too sweet to be wholesome or in any way real. With all loose ends and months of aggravation points neatly knotted and bow-tied into a deal, ready for the next piranha pool cycle of news and social media. At the end of this bizarre afternoon-tea dressed up as a negotiating summit, the first two words to pop into my head were from an altogether different reality. Although, I was trying to contemplate the whole tariff situation from a more McDowellian world.

The words skipping across my skies were:

Jeffrey Epstein.

Logically speaking, his name should be totally unconnected to the world of tariff negotiations. But, where there is geo-politics there is darkness and nothing is darker than the looming shadow of Epstein and the reach of that inter-connected web seems infinite. A darkness that spews all other shades of black.

The landmark, ruddy durability of the Epstein affair, and the world’s addiction to it, in an age of technologically induced easy forgetfulness, is significant. This scandal seems to cross the manufactured divides of the last five years. Popping up everywhere with stubborn stick-ability. Almost akin to marching across the freezing ice frontiers of the Artic and stumbling across a narrow fissure in the ice. On first, and second look, it seems a mere nasty and dangerous pitfall but easily traversed with a hop, skip and a jump. But, on closer examination, draws the eye again and again, hinting at more. A potentially deep, ancient and infinite crevice. A lightning bolt crack so thunderously black it may well only bottom out at the centre of the known universe and whatever is down there is filled with molten lava and things that go bump in the night. For, it speaks of realities too frightful, evil and energy sucking to invite into a human inner world for too long, lest they begin to feed there too. But the name keeps oozing to the surface and resonating around the world.

A most vibrational question is being asked and no amount of distracted thinking, intellectualism, or AI seems able to wipe it out at the present time. For, it may be the question and answer that reveals everything.

If it is, I doubt any of us are ready for it.

Today, we’ll be talking about the Irish government and some very recent tariff affairs but trekking to that fire-side contemplation and destination by meandering along the wild Atlantic way.

Steve Jobs, Genius & Asshole.

Saturday evening, I was driving around the country roads, aimlessly enough, and half listening to podcasts, when a portion of one caught my attention. The subject of the conversation was Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple. The guest in question was Kevin O’Leary, who many may know today from his appearances on big, US business media platforms and also the US version of Dragon’s Den, where he picked up the nickname Mr. Wonderful.

But, in the early 90s, the Canadian business-man and TV personality was, in fact, a producer and supplier of software to Apple and Jobs.

Back then, it was a CD driven software environment and O’Leary’s business produced plenty of student and educational software packages for Apple. This specific era in question was pre the creation of the iPod and iPhone, and before Microsoft and Windows 95 completely re-modelled the personal computer market and world as we knew it. A period when Apple was experiencing its first exponential growth phase and the internet was shuffling laboriously on-line.

I used to work for Steve Jobs in the early '90s, making all of his educational software....Steve would say, and by the way not a nice guy, not a nice guy. He would say to a roomful of people:

'Kevin, I don't give a shit what the students want or what the parents think or what anybody thinks. It's what I want. They don't know what they want until I tell them what they want'.

And I said: " Steve you sound like such an asshole, you have no idea what that sounds like "

And he said " No, no, that's how it is, Kevin. Now, are you making money with me?

Am I your fastest growing OEM. Have we not been wildly successful and continue to be?

And I said " Yes, that's true, Steve.

" Then fucking shut up and do what I say "

Let’s pause here for a moment to reflect on this sliver of O’Leary reflection about Jobs. and try out an exercise in our minds. Re-read the above piece of dialogue but substitute Steve Jobs’ name for overall US corporate and EU sovereign interests in Ireland, instead. Then, obviously, imagine Kevin O’Leary is the Irish government.

Cuts pretty close to the bone, I’d say.

Now, in the last twenty four hours, the US and EU choreographed a trade deal. I say choreographed, as it seemed Trump barely needed to get out of his Scottish golf-cart to negotiate it. Today, headlines across the Irish media are of the 15% tariff agreement reached between the two trading blocks. Although, I suspect, the devil may well be in the detail as the finer points of the deal filter out over the next weeks and months. Suffice to say, though, this trade deal will have a sufficiently devastating effect on Ireland Inc. for the foreseeable future. Specifically, I want to draw readers attention to the official response from Taoiseach Martin to the trade news. It was swift and suitably comical.

The agreement achieved this afternoon in Scotland between Presidents von der Leyen and Trump is very welcome.

It brings clarity and predictability to the trading relationship between the EU and the US – the biggest in the world.

That is good for businesses, investors and consumers. It will help protect many jobs in Ireland.

There are a number of ways to interpret this segment of the Martin statement but let’s try something a little off-beat, and return to my opening paragraphs and a personal observation, I omitted, about O’Leary.

Kevin O’Leary, on the balance of probabilities is not Mr. Wonderful at all but an ass-hole.

A one percenter.

On a related point, and based on extensive anatomical research, most marine biologists agree that the blue whale has the largest anus in the known natural world.

So, simply enough, if O’Leary is an ass-hole then Steve Jobs was an ass-hole of blue whale proportions.

The one percent of the one percenters. Which is probably why in this interview O’Leary seems to both abhor and marvel at Steve Jobs in equal measure. Now, contemplated in this fashion, Ireland’s main, widespread political problem is a rather odd one to consider. We have not a single ass-hole in government to represent the people against the oppressive waves of assholery assaulting the nation.

EU Commission chief, Van der Leyen, is an ass-hole for the European elites.

Trump’s is an ass-hole for MAGA. Or at least, he seemed to be until the day before yesterday.

One of the problems Ireland faces is we don’t possess an ass-hole to stand up for the nation. Martin & Harris are not ass-holes but something far more dangerous to Irish society. Vacuous, virtue-signalling survivalists without a hole between them to take a shit for themselves or anyone else. To remain in office they simply require about 10-15% of the population to make plenty of money. And make it, in an early 90s, O’Leary type fashion.

The Martin statement above celebrates the wonderful clarity and predictability the EU/US trade deal brings to Ireland. That clarity has provided an oil painting of the Cliffs of Moher in our near future. Yet, this new-found unblinkered vision still involves Martin encouraging everyone in the country to continue jogging towards the edge of the Cliffs.

While, the trade-deal might be a welcome development to those of us who believe the expansion of the Irish economy needs to hit hard on the brakes immediately, it is most certainly not good news for consumers or business or the economy in general. In short, the globalist Taoiseach is lying to the globalist Irish foot-soldiers who vote for the Fine Gael’s, Fianna Fail’s and Sinn Fein’s of this world.

The statement is wild, insane propaganda.

But, let’s get back to Kevin O’Leary and Jobs to see if we might learn anymore about ourselves.

" And here's what I learned (about Jobs). Look at how wildly successful he was.

But here's why.

There's a concept that he understood that very few people focused on back then, in the early 90s, of signal-to-noise ratio.

What was so brilliant about Jobs, that I tell every CEO now...his vision of signal was the top 3 to 5 things you have to get done in the next 18 hours.

Not your vision for the business next week, or next month, or next year. Just the next 18 hours you're awake.

You are going to get those 3 or 5 things done that you have deemed critical for your mission. They must get done. Today.

Anything that stops you from doing that is the noise"

Now, problematically, as it pertained to Jobs weird psychology, noise could be framed as: a family bereavement, kindness, an employee illness, empathy, a car crash, or half an hour’s sleep at night.

But, the psychology undoubtedly made billions in profits and continues to do so long after his death.

For the quote to fit Irish psychopathy, though, we must invert the words above. In Ireland’s dystopian landscape, noise is the new signal. In essence, this government focuses on the three to five pieces of noise they must fart through their smiles ( they don’t have ass-holes remember) into a helpful media environment in order to get through the next 18 hours of government.

This seems to be the grand plan of 2025.

18 hour Government cycles.

Press releases announcing record breaking house building figures actually translate, on the ground, into the following picture below. Basic, two bedroom box apartments changing hands at 2,400 euro a month.

There is no long term, or medium term. Hell, there is no short term thinking. All that exists is gargantuan levels of noise peddled by the sectors trying to survive the consequences of their own actions and inactions.

Whether the noise be news revealing that president of the Irish pandemic, Dr. Tony Holohan, might now be running for the presidency of Ireland come November, or that former US president Barack Obama is set to receive the freedom of Dublin city in September; the goal is the same. Mass production of noise.

Why?

To keep large chunks of the country in constant digital friction with one another lest anyone begins deciphering the frightening signals leaking out of the arse of all these air-balloons of noise.

It’s all about survival.

Today, sees the second instalment of a new series of writing here on the West’s Awake and a collection of articles I’m loosely binding together with a string of baling twine entitled:

“ Global Elites in your Neighbourhood “

I must say, the response to the first article was surprisingly good. Last Friday evening, following up on it, I attended a meeting of about two hundred local people in Monivea, County Galway, all up in arms about the proposed development of a 900 acre solar farm. My story originating from an article published in The Tuam Herald a few weeks ago.

In total, seven elected representatives from across the local political spectrum were in attendance including junior minister for State, Sean Canney. All broadly supportive of the locals, but, at the same time, all kind of intimating there wasn’t much that could be done by the politicans to directly thwart the project. Now, I do believe there is some truth in this but it is also indicative of exactly how impotent local democracy has become over time in Ireland, and of how little control we have over our local environments, land and living spaces.

Despite this qualifier above, I must confess, I didn’t feel altogether hopeless about the chances of success driving away from Monivea that night. One piece of information that came to light at the meeting was quite frightening. Not alone is this part of County Galway fighting a monstrous solar farm project but also another five or six proposed wind-farm projects in various stages of development and the planning process. All greedily salivating over thoughts of thieving our fertile lands, Tadhg.

The Western People & proposed Killala IPAS Centre

The focus of this series remains to spotlight different local newspapers around the country and how they directly or indirectly facilitate the expanse of global interests and agendas in our local towns and villages. This week, we jump to one of the standout local papers in the West of Ireland, the Ballina published, Western People. A publication on the go serving Mayo and hinterland counties since 1883. I’m going to be concentrating on two articles from two different weeks to highlight the rapid expanse of International Protection Accommodation Centres, or IPAS centres, as we have come to refer to them as in recent years.

One piece is news and the other a column.

The mass, uncontrolled immigration project continues to run a muck across the West of Ireland in 2025 and nowhere is this more pronounced than in Co. Mayo. The July 15th edition of the Western People features a front page article detailing the possible transition of a local pub and restaurant - The Acres - into an emergency accommodation centre or IPAS centre.

“ An estimated 350 people attended a public meeting outside the premises formerly known as The Acres last Wednesday evening and a committee was formed to resist plans to turn the building into an emergency accommodation centre.

The Acres has been purchased by Mark Devaney and Declan Hallinan, who have previously acquired properties around the West and turned them into International Protection Accommodation Centres. These properties include the Old Deanery Holiday cottages in Killala…..“ - Western People, Tuesday, July 15th, 2025

A representative for the local protest group was quoted as follows:

“ The Acres was our last available accommodation option in Killala and there is concern it is going to be used as an IPAS Centre “ - Western People, Tuesday, July 15th, 2025

Now, the second paragraph above, where the purchasers of the property are formally identified, is where local papers frequently do a massive disservice to their readership. They stop investigating and choose to ignore historical context as well.

So, allow me, if I may.

The dynamic duo identified as the new owners of The Acres are directors of nearly a dozen companies between them. Mark Devaney is a hotelier and currently listed as director of seven different companies. Declan Hallinan is the director of four companies. A point to note: Quite a number of these companies have popped into existance over the last three years, and a number of them in 2025, but it is not possible to exactly identify how many are directly involved in the provision IPAS accommodation or IPAS services from CRO filings, but the two men named by the Western People are involved in two companies together. Vela Realty Ltd & Dromaprop Ltd. With Hallinan acting as company director in both and Devaney acting as company secretary.

DROMAPROP LTD was incorporated in 2021 and based on an analysis of the most recent government reporting on IPAS payments of more than 20,000 euro, “Purchase Orders over €20K – Q1 2025 and Q4 2024”, DROMAPROP Ltd has received the following payments over 20,000 euro in the last two reporting quarters.

Vela Realty Ltd.

Vela Realty Ltd was only incorporated on March 5th 2025 and registered with the business description of a company involved in the development of building projects. The Acres in Killala would certainly fall under this broad category umbrella. So, it is probably not a stretch to assume this might be the company vehicle used to purchase the Killala premises at the heart of local anger and fears.

Interestingly, historic local reporting indicates Mark Devaney, purchased the Old Deanery Holiday cottages in Killala, the same ones referenced in The Western People article above, at some point in March 2023 from a Liz Keane. Immediately on purchase, the site seems to have transitioned from holiday cottages into an IPAS accommodation centre. So, local protesters have every reason to worry about the future fate of The Acres. I mention the Old Deanery cottages for context and also for a tragedy associated with them soon after the sale.

Sadly, a month after the acquisition, the former owner, Liz Keane, was found dead near Killala pier by a local angler. A year later, in June 2024, an inquest into the circumstances surrounding her death was conducted and reported on by the Western People. It makes for revelatory reading.

“ The inquest heard that Ms Keane had been the owner of the Old Deanery Cottages, a self-catering accommodation provider in Killala, until its sale to Mark Devaney, a hotelier, in March 2023.

Mr Devaney was not present at the inquest but provided a statement. He told the inquest that he had met with Ms Keane on several occasions and she was aware that the Cottages were to be used to house families who arrived in Ireland as International Protection Applicants (IPAS). It was agreed that Ms Keane would remain involved with the Cottages and help to run the IPAS facility.

The coroner for the inquest into the death of Liz Keane was Dr. Eleanor Fitzgerald. She reached a narrative verdict, stating there was no evidence Liz Keane was pushed into the water or had taken her own life, suggesting she may have slipped into the water instead. A most unfortunate side-story and detail to this overall picture, and into the short history of IPAS accommodation in the town of Killala.

Yet, this inquest did reveal one interesting fact. 50 IPAS applicants were shipped into the eight award winning self-catering cottages a few days before Liz Keane’s untimely death, a fact establishing the precise number of asylum seekers bussed into Killala in early April 2023.

Mr Devaney said he received a call from Ms Keane on April 1, 2023, in which she expressed anxiety over her role. Some 50 IPAS applicants had arrived at the Cottages in the previous days. Mr Devaney told her his colleague, Shane Scott - whom he described as "a hospitality consultant" - would be there to help her run the facility. Witness said Ms Keane was "reassured" by this “ - - Western People, Friday June 7th, 2024.

A curious and up-to-date twist to this tale is that a Shane Scott, referred to by Devaney in his statement to the inquest, is a company director of Levora Ltd, a newly incorporated business. This company incorporated on June 12th, 2025 is listed with a Shane Scott and a Declan Hallinan as two of the directors.

So, this Mr Scott seems to be a hospitality consultant and current director of four companies, to give him his full description. Now linked historically as a colleague of Devaney in the Old Deanery cottages IPAS accommodation from the Keane inquest and latterly named as director of a new company with Declan Hallinan in 2025. Again, to repeat, it is not unreasonable for locals to be apprehensive of where the future direction of the The Acres might be headed to.

The population of Killala, a beautiful coastal village in North Mayo, stood at 587 people after the 2022 census. The filling up of those Old Deanery cottages added 10% to the local population numbers. The Acres in its previous incarnation as a pub, restaurant and hospitality accommodation business possessed fifteen bedrooms. The continued suspension of normal planning requirements for properties utilized as IPAS facilities means the numbers of IPAS resident housed in a location like The Acres could range from 50 to 75, further ballooning the local population and squeezing the concerns, resources and needs of the local population.

As a long-term publisher on this topic line over the last three years, one feature is beginning to trend. The IPAS money racket is concentrating into fewer and fewer hands as the millions in profits earned in the first two years of the IPAS roll-out are now re-invested into the purchase of even more sites to be repurposed as refugee accommodation centres. This is cold, hard business with millions and billions up for grabs. The evolution cannot be happening without the private knowledge, direction and support of government, government agencies and local authorities. Once more we have a local article on an IPAS centre with no commentary from the local politicians.

A feature revealed by instalment one of this series two weeks ago, saw how a French hedge-fund targeted a small group of farmers by dangling the carrot of making 15 to 20 of them wealthy. With promises of generous annual rental agreements for their land so as to house thousands and thousands of solar panels atop their green, lush fields. The IPAS racket is no different in many respects. What we are really observing is the trafficking of economic migrants into Ireland to take their place in our global economy for huge monetary gain for the few and the long-term effect of lower wages and higher rents for the many. The profits on offer to the small concentration of accommodation providers in this sector, though, are much, much greater than in the wind and solar regimes emerging. As can be seen from the numbers provided above.

But how are these developments kept quiet on the ground?

Well, local media play a big role and no-one more so than the local columnist.

Fr. Brendan Hoban, Columnist, The Western People.

A template feature of every local newspaper in Ireland is the pride of place given to local columnists. In this regard, the Western People is no different than any other regional paper with their use and deployment of them. These scribes often discuss topical local issues in their own unique style and sometimes offer up contrarian view-points - all on a weekly basis. Yet, the vast majority of these same columnists have been silent on the transformational destruction of Ireland over the last five years. They have been, more or less, opinion-less or accepting on all of the major issues.

Fr. Brendan Hoban is a prominent member of the local columnists brigade and writes a weekly piece for the Western People. His by-line makes mention of his standing as Local Ireland Columnist of the year for 2024. Top local dog, in other words. This awards scheme is sponsored by the National Lottery. A brief summary of his priestly and literary career reads something as follows:

Fr. Hoban was born in Ballycastle, County Mayo, and ordained for the Diocese of Killala in 1973. He retired from parish duties in 2018 with a final mass as parish priest of Moygownagh, County Mayo in July of that year. Incidentally, Moygownagh is a village about 7 miles from The Acres in Killala.

Though, active priestly duty is in the rear view mirror, Fr. Hoban hasn’t retired from scribbling down a few words each week for the Western People, which is an intriguing ecumenical matter for divine contemplation, if one was of a mind to think about it for awhile. Fr. Hoban’s written output is stellar enough with books including Turbulent Diocese: The Killala Troubles 1798–1848 (2011), Where Do We Go from Here (2013), A Melancholy Truth (2008), and A Touch of the Heart: A Memoir (2002).

All told, you might say, Fr Hoban is steeped in the diocese of Killala both from a spiritual and literary perspective. A man of good standing and reputation. But, curiously, a columnist much silent on the proposed controlled destruction of Killala over the last two weeks. Who knows maybe for the last two years.

The annoying problem with Fr. Hoban’s output this week, which I find difficult to ignore, is that he has plenty of wacky opinions and time to dedicate to the subject of Donald Trump and US comedian Rosie O’Donnell. The twosome are the focus of his meanderings this week.

“ Rosie could become an unlikely American hero because she is of a tiny minority who have called Trump out for what he is and have refused to be part of the growing constituency who, for a variety of motives, are ‘taking the soup’ by attempting to manipulate the shameless Trump for their own purposes “ Western People, Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025

Most of this Trump column follows a kind of primary-school logic on global issues, all the while, spoon feeding the readership with childish confidence, a certainty only the wilfully blind entertain. But, I do like his use of the very Irish phrase “ taking the soup “, and will endeavour to put it to better use for him.

Now, it seems to have escaped Fr. Brendan’s attention, along with the other National Lottery columnists around the country, that no-one glugs down the imaginary soup bowl to exploit the “shameless Trump “ more than manipulative and shameless O’Donnell.

Indeed, this woman is less than a few of months in Ireland and one who has already received far more media attention, both national and local, than the plethora of IPAS centres silently coerced into Mayo over the last three years. O’Donnell may well get fast-tracked Irish citizenship as reward for all of her tireless efforts and Trump shaming. A hobby never likely to go out of fashion in global loving Ireland. In summary, O’Donnell is on message with the globalist agenda in Ireland, hence the media glorification, by extension a sizeable number of locals in Killala are not, and so cue the media soundlessness. Anyway, Fr. Brendan has more non local problems to inform the great and good of Mayo about this week.

“ It is time for Ursula von der Leyen to own this moment in history by refusing to be bullied by a lesser political entity - after all the EU’s population of 449 million dwarfs the USA’s comparable figure of 350 million, and, for example does the figure for Russia at just 146 million “ Western People, Tuesday, July 15th, 2025

Once more, Fr Brendan ignores a very obvious hole in his Junior Cert thesis. President Donald Trump was elected by a majority of those same 350 million people he writes about and Ursula van der Leyen was democratically elected by zero people out of 449 million. Note how the columnist is not calling on our government to act but the unelected leader of the European commission. The whole column is a topsy-turvy sweep of rather juvenile generalisations, cheap shots and attacks.

Another point. One specifically for the columnists union of Ireland

Just because someone is an opponent of Trump doesn’t make that same someone a good person. The democratically mandate-less Van der Leyen’s advocacy for an EU army and a trillion euro taxpayer funded spend on weapons manufacture and a spanking new EU defence industry enrobes her in far-right credentials much superior to the Trumpian agenda. The headline of this overall pile of nonsense is entitled:

“ It’s time the EU stood up to Trump’s bullying “

I guess we won’t be seeing one entitled “ It’s time Mayo people stood up to IPAS bullying “ in publication anytime soon. Unfortunately, all of this non-local engagement is how a country gets quietly destroyed while the traces of its own cataclysmic destruction cannot be found anywhere in print or in the digital archives of local newspapers. Small town Ireland is awash with global agendas tempting the few to “ take the soup “ and drive on their outrageous plans in exchange for buckets filled with temporary gold. Meanwhile, the many just suck up the increasing pressure on housing, wages, ways of life, education, and food-prices.

And if someone slips off the pier in Killala shouldering the weight of all these problems, well, don’t expect to read too much about it in Fr. Hoban’s column in the Western People.

When I discover a great song it often acts as a source of writing inspiration. But, usually too, the discovery leaves an after-taste of slight depression. Because I’d happily trade about fifty thousand of my own words to have written the fifty or so quoted above. Never mind, to have compiled them into a beautiful song.

The song lyrics above come from a young Irish band named KingFishr and the words almost projectile explode from the lead singer’s gut, vibrating thunderously out through the vocal chords from some ancient, forgotten bog land. His gravelly voice embracing the shadowy dangers of a hidden, water drenched bog-hole and yet the promise too of turf and the warmth of a winter’s fire. It is about the sixth song in a row by this band I have become semi-addicted too.

The reason, besides the quality of the music, is simple.

These lads get it. The music breathes the soul of the nation.

In fact, they get Ireland in a way many who I speak to regularly do not. I am not talking politics or current affairs here, which are essentially side-shows in this context. No, I am talking about the threads of our past, present and future and how these threads are weaved together, generation after generation, so as to pulsate as a unique, continuous melody down through time. Somehow, someway, this group of twenty-something young lads instinctively understand the shadows of the nation. Of how we love and lose in our own unique way, and of how we hope again and dream.

Why might this be relevant?

There are many different ways to slice and dice the ill-health of the nation. One method might be to say this: Ireland is run by people and interests who do not understand or care about the shadows of the nation. This ignorance is an existential danger to us all, I believe.

Yesterday, I bought the Sunday Independent and eventually turned to the business section. The lead story was a puff piece with Ernest & Young’s ( Ireland ) managing partner, Frank O’Keeffe, on how Ernest & Young’s - “ new signing “ - former Tanáiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney was proving to be a game-changer to the EY business. The article is a stocking filler of meaningless corporate-speak mumbo-jumbo.

One interesting revelation, though, is the Irish management consultancy class have created a new type of consultancy division in Ireland. Geo-political strategy. Former Tanáiste, Simon Coveney, is now employed as a “ consultant “ with this Ernest & Young unit.

Coveney follows former Taoiseach Varadkar and senior state official Dr. Ronan Glynn into the global corporate world. Much about the corporatisation of politics annoys me but chief amongst my annoyances is how it demeans and slut-ifies our highest public offices, as the holders of those same offices now wantonly whore themselves out as consultants to work at Ernest & Young and elsewhere. By virtue of possessing those offices for a time. This new-age public to private dance feels a bit like watching a nun ditch her habit and climb up the nearest lap-dancing pole wiggling her hips.

Ex-political leaders and senior civil servants are a weird, new kind of professional soccer player with their political lives acting as the lower leagues of their professional careers until they get their big money transfer to the global consultancy or global tech network team. A foreign owned Premier League who give not two flying fucks about the local supporters other than to filch their pockets of cash.

“ For us ( Ernest & Young ), again, it all comes back to our clients. Simon (Coveney) has been tremendous in the boardrooms with our clients, helping them think through their biggest strategic issues “

Ah yes, it all comes back to the global network of billionaire businesses and government clients with access to billions in public money. Now, I am old enough to remember when Simon Coveney arrived on the political scene at the tail end of 1990s and began the chicken and chips circuit of appearing and stuttering his way through a host of political programmes like Questions and Answers on RTE.

Coveney was very much a 5.0 or 5.5 out of 10 intellect and a pushover for the political heavyweights of the time, or the times recent to that past. A past containing people like Brian Cowen, Bertie Ahern, Padraig Flynn, John O'Donoghue and further back Charlie Haughey. That is not celebrate those names but to remark Coveney was so far out of his depth in comparison it was embarrassing to watch. I know this is true because I’d have been a Fine Gael voter in my twenties hoping they might produce someone of substance to one day make it into political office. God forgive my particular brand of stupidity. But, Coveney was nowhere near the mark. And like most of the current Fine Gael office holders only got his opportunity in the aftermath of the financial crisis of 2008.

Coveney was earnest, bog-average and a goody-two-shoes with a stutter and family political heritage which never hurts. This whiter-than-white persona seems to have been the political identikit formulated after the financial crisis of 2008 to replace the previous breed of corrupt Irish politician.

It is interesting to note, perhaps, that most of this older breed of politician - named above - possessed a very real and discernible Irish shadow. One visible to the public. You could sense and feel it when they spoke or appeared on radio and television. So, it was no real surprise when later we learned Charlie had a taste for fine clothes, fine islands and fine women, or that Bertie Ahern didn’t exactly have a functioning bank account when he was the Minister for Finance, or that Cowen was fond of a pint or ten, or that Pee Flynn began bitching and moaning about how hard it was to live on a hundred grand a year during an interview on national television.

Recognisably Irish shadows. One way of describing all of their downfalls would be to say they fell due to a lack of progress on the integration of these shadows and the nation paid dearly for the snails pace in the end. And one of the outputs of the fall was the birth of this new breed of deadly politician.

The replacement iteration of politician by comparison is far worse. These lads and lasses seem to have no outward appearance of a shadow at all. Coveney, Martin, Harris, Jack Chambers, McEntee and the list goes on. This is very much not to say each doesn’t have one but rather those shadows are so deeply buried as to be rarely visible. To the public or consciously to themselves.

The Earnest Youngians

Now, if I were to clumsily summarise Carl Jung’s philosophical tradition as an integration of the conscious and unconscious mind to seek wholeness and full self-realization, I might equally say this new breed of Irish politician and Irish globalist - “ The Earnest Youngians - are feverishly addicted to the exact opposite. A total disintegration and split of the conscious from the unconscious. The right hand doesn’t need to know what criminal acts the left hand is engaged in. As though, they are unconnected.

So, the Earnest Youngians will consciously dedicate two hours a week to mindfulness in the workplace, developing a compassionate workplace climate and a patronising imported culture of inclusiveness while simultaneously and unconsciously grafting sixty hours a week destroying the fabric of the nation for generations to come. All done in the name of ‘client interests ‘. In a city like Dublin with an average house price of 475,000 euro, where IPAS centres are popping up faster than new homes, these people can still say things along the lines of:

“ But, we also have to remember…Ireland as an economy is in a very strong place. And actually from a societal perspective is still a very good place to be “ Frank O’Keeffe, Managing Partner E & Y (Ireland), Sunday Independent, July 13th, 2025.

Corporate-speak gobble-de-gook that mainstream press outlets allow the Irish captains of global industry to get away with all the time unchecked. Decked out in business casual attire and a pair of loafers while they champion A.I. advancements none of them particularly comprehend. Just so long as it delivers profit in the short term for their clients. And sure, won’t the medium to long-term hopes and dreams of the nation look after themselves - seems to be the consistent logic of the Earnest Jungians across a wide-spectrum of subject matter areas from AI to immigration.

But, the grand societal thinking of the Earnest Youngians has led us very quickly to where we are today. A harmless looking bunch of non-descript men have managed to obliterate the long-term future of Ireland in less than fifteen years. Now, if we individualise the forgotten notion of “ long-term thinking and responsibility “ by substituting the word long-term for unconscious we might come to a little better understanding of the huge dangers these masters of finance pose as societal stewards and the future ahead. These people are unconscious, if not comatose, to the concept of a responsibility to the long-term health of the nation state. AI and mass immigration are inevitable in their eyes so we must inevitably run towards them faster than everyone else.

So, at this point, let’s jump back to the real Carl Jung and away from his earnest imposters and his concept of the shadow. Referring to hidden and repressed aspects of ourselves and our personality that the conscious ego doesn’t identify with or simply attempts to reject wholesale and keep buried deep. In this context, we might say we have a political and business elite whose shadows are so far buried from surface reality that when they collectively explode the 2008 financial crisis will look like an ATM machine being out-of-service for the weekend.

These are not people afraid of their own shadow but rather a controlling group who largely don’t believe in it at all. Through my own limited experience of attempting to tackle this area on a personal basis, I’d merely say, the shadow integration process, often called shadow work, basically involves becoming a private detective. But where each new client knocking on the door is a different aspect of yourself looking for help. Or actually sprinting away from help as the case maybe. According to Jung:

“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious”

In the context of the Earnest Youngians, the philosophy is entirely topsy-turvy. The darkness is ignored and made more unconscious. There is only light and no shadow within themselves worth exploring, and obviously no personal unconscious. So, Simon Coveney is not a 5.5 out 10 intellect, over-promoted, and out-of-his-depth for the entirety of his political career. Instead, Simon Coveney is:

“ If you think about his achievements politically, not just nationally, but also internationally. Simon is, in my view, as well-versed as any international politicians around the changing world. His relationships are unreal; his knowledge of the Irish, European, British, Middle-Eastern and the US landscapes is second to none. “

Yeah, but what’s his relationship with himself like, I wonder. I bet, he thinks its pretty trouble-free and unremarkable and falls asleep safe in the notion that he’s not Charlie Haughey. And therein lies the problem for the world at large with the Earnest Youngians running it. They are consumed and comforted by who they are not. Rather than consistently looking in the mirror to establish who they really are.

So, they’ll quite easily and piously destroy and sacrifice the environment, and all humanity living on it, so they can profiteer to the very last dime from saving the climate with a side order of preening moral superiority. It is sobering to remind ourselves at this point that it is this same bunch of retards who are driving the Artificial Intelligence agenda world-wide too.

O’Keeffe is a strong advocate for AI and has introduced it into various parts of the EY business, such as audit. However, could it become a threat to to professional services companies like EY?

“ Yes, there is a threat to certain parts of the business “ he replies.

“ There should be always. That is competition. Certain elements of work we support the market in, or we do ourselves, that is more routine in nature, I believe technology will help people go better and faster in future “

It is a rather odd type of answer and way to address AI. The type of worrying response where it is clear the person doesn’t actually understand the potential problem. Now granted, and on the plus side, for Frank and his clients, is the relief that during the next iteration of melding the political class, AI and the Earnest Youngians, it will not involve them having to fork out top dollar for the Simon Coveney’s of the world, which at the moment is the equivalent to paying Paul Gascoigne’s mate Jimmy-Five-Bellies Ronaldo type wages. No, the future will be an AI equivalent of a former Minister for Foreign Affairs, or, who knows, the AI equivalent of an acting minister for Foreign Affairs working for EY.

The problem but possibly also the salvation for the nation from the Irish Earnest Youngians harks back to the beginning of this piece of writing. The Earnest Youngians don’t get Ireland. They have already disintegrated from themselves and by extension the threads of the nation. It doesn’t matter how much they all shout all day about going to watch the Dubs play football in Croke Park.

While, this piece might seem a little depressing; there is hope, I believe. Much hope. We are still producing kids who sing from the belly of this time-worn island. The solutions vibrate from their lungs. Of course, they are not the solutions any of the mainstream or alternative political classes tune into in any way. Because the way forward is not political saviours. The Earnest Youngians have already thrown those people into their algorithms.

But, the flickering light is these people are collectively unconscious to the shadows within themselves and that is their Achilles heel. If we learn to observe and learn from them.

A bunch of young lads have already figured out that the brightest lights are mined from the darkest mountains. It is in the depths of the shadow that the future of the nation will be won.

Yesterday, July 9th, the RTE News website published an article by journalist Conor Hunt on rising “anti-migrant mobilisation “ across the nation. The source for the entire piece is provided by a new report by our old buddies at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) headquartered in the UK.

“ A new report from Institute for Strategic Dialogue, has found what began as scattered, localised protests in late 2022, has evolved into an "increasingly structured and internationally connected movement".

It says this mobilisation is "characterised by street protests, intimidation, targeted violence and coordinated amplification online" - Conor Hunt, RTE News website, July 9th, 2025.

The inference, of course, is that the huge rise in immigration unrest across Ireland is evidence of an increase in the influence of dark forces and the mythical “ far-right “ rather than genuine opposition to government policy.

Nothing could be further from the truth. A fact illustrated by over one thousand comments on the piece on the RTE News Facebook page. None too complimentary.

So, why do RTE source reports from very progressive-left organisations like the Institute for Strategic Dialogue for news sourcing?

To the untrained eye the ISD offer the appearance of an independent, research driven think-tank. Unbiased. Of course, this feature is vital for mainstream news and national broadcasters who themselves have become heavily agenda driven and ideologically biased in recent years and decades.

In short, these news operations require the authority of a third-party institution to rubber-stamp their bias as neutral. The Institute of Strategic Dialogue is one of the organisations which help them to fulfil this neutrality goal.

The twenty-minute-a-day news consumer will never look into the source agency RTE News employs for its immigration articles which is crucial for RTE to retain a semblance of credibility. A vaguely authoritive sounding institution is saying what RTE and others want them to say and most busy and distracted people buy it.

Why did RTE publish this latest article now?

The short answer, I believe, is mainstream media are beginning to lose the mass immigration information war. Protest numbers on the ground in recent months are noticeably rising. Social media volume is deafening too. Faces not previously seen on Irish streets are beginning to find their feet and voice. More on this in a moment or two.

Now, the clue to the truth of what I suspect is a developing incestuous relationship between ISD and RTE is in a strategic error I believe RTE made in timing the release of yesterday’s news piece.

The RTE article rolled fresh off the digital printing press within a couple of hours of the publication of the ISD report used as the source for it. The report, authored by Zoe Manzi and entitled “ Emerging cross-border dynamics in Ireland’s anti-migrant mobilisation “ was only published yesterday, July 9th. A rather too quick turnaround time for an article that isn’t remotely time sensitive or breaking news.

Manzi is a Hate and Extremism analyst for ISD.

RTE focuses on a section of the most recent ISD report featuring the Coolock protests of 2024. The successful Coolock protests, I might add. Pressure from co-ordinated local groups forced a government U-turn and ultimately a decision was taken earlier this year to pull the proposed immigration project to house asylum seekers at a large industrial site in Coolock. However, the Manzi reporting was concerned with highlighting other things.

“ Protests in Coolock, Dublin – which began in March 2024 before descending into violence in the summer – marked a major escalation in anti-migrant mobilisation. What began as opposition to converting an industrial site into asylum accommodation escalated into organised disorder, including arson, barricades and violent clashes with Gardaí “

“ One of the first directly observed signs of cross-border coordination between groups in Ireland and Northern Ireland occurred in August 2024: representatives from Coolock Says No, a grassroots anti-immigration protest group, travelled to Belfast to participate in anti-migrant protests in the wake of the 29 July Southport stabbing attack “

If you read the report closely you will begin to understand the developing problem for the Institute of Strategic Dialogue, RTE and others. Coolock highlighted a new feature of the island-wide unrest regarding refugee policy. Southern nationalists and northern loyalists found common ground on the subject of uncontrolled mass migration onto the island. This is an obvious and serious obstacle, if it continues, to the cosy cartels operating in and around RTE and government buildings. The potential for a type of mass mobilisation across religious divides and borders never before seen on the island of Ireland.

Loyalists and nationalists working together to save the thirty two counties from the globalist ambitions of its political classes.

A delicious thought.

Background and Recent history of ISD in Ireland

A quick refresher for new readers on the Institute of Strategic Dialogue might be useful at this point. The Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) works closely with a range of government agencies, including those involved in national security and intelligence. Its state and global partners have included:

• The British Home Office

• The United States Department of Homeland Security

• The US State Department

• The British Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, under which the UK’s foreign intelligence agency (MI6) operates

• The European Commission

• The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

• The Soros backed Open Society Foundation

The official ISD promotional story is they provide threat intelligence, policy advice, and research for many of these agencies, particularly in areas related to extremism, disinformation, and online hate. While ISD is not itself an intelligence agency, its collaborations with these bodies mean it operates in a space closely aligned with intelligence and state security priorities.

In the last 5 months ISD sourced information and alleged disinformation experts have appeared at least four times on RTE. There might well be more examples I haven’t found.

ISD Personnel Featured in mainstream Irish media:

Aoife Gallagher (Senior Analyst) - featuring in multiple mainstream articles and interviews

Ciarán O'Connor (Senior Analyst) - regular contributor to RTÉ coverage

Both analysts have been consistently quoted as experts on disinformation, extremism, and online safety. In 2025, ISD’s influence on RTE seems to be rising in terms of sourcing and the visibility of its personnel. The progressive leaning ISD has particularly established itself as a primary source for RTÉ when covering issues related to online extremism, disinformation, far-right activity, and digital safety in Ireland. A fact ISD are quick to advertise and celebrate on their website.

Now, this substack, I believe, was the first publication in the country to spotlight ISD’s role in targeting anti-lockdown, anti-immigration groups and individuals through its biased reports on Ireland. Tarring many of the same as “ far-right “ and extremist. The far-right was a largely alien concept in Ireland back in 2022 but one pushed heavily by ISD, RTE and mainstream Irish media but which is now a term as regularly employed in everyday conversation as “the craic “

In early 2022, as the Ukraine / Russia conflict fully erupted, the Irish government utilized the war moment to unveil and execute its plans to massively increase all non-EU asylum seeker numbers in Ireland unrelated to Ukraine. Hidden in plain sight, and under the cover of war darkness the Irish state began trebling and quadrupling the number of non-Ukrainian refugees flowing into the country. ISD’s role in assisting them cannot be underestimated. The ISD set about introducing alien terms like “ far-right “ into common Irish usage by producing a number of reports targeting oppositional groups and naming individuals. All Irish media lapped up this source material and continue to do so right to this day. The last three years has seen Ireland over-run with refugees of questionable refugee origin.

Even fact checking organisations like Media Bias Fact Check, rates ISD as “Left-center biased,” noting that its focus on right-wing extremism and certain policy recommendations often align with progressive perspectives. However, it also reports that ISD’s work is generally evidence-based and factual. Personally speaking, and in relation to Ireland in particular, I would argue ISD bias leans heavily progressive, very light on evidence (often quoting tweets and social media posts as reference material), and has never produced a report on hard left progressivism or the plethora of progressive leaning NGOs operating and influencing Irish government, Irish state agencies and the Irish media.

So, next time you see an ISD sourced article in the mainstream news remember to bake in a heavy dose of left bias into your calculations about the accuracy of the news item.

Today, I’m starting a new series of writing that will hopefully appear on a fortnightly basis. The purpose of the series - “Global elites in your neighbourhood ” is set to examine and expose the hidden global vines ghosting through our local towns and villages like a type of poison ivy.

Shiny and green on the outside but often corroding the walls underneath too. Over time these insidious ropes bind many aspects of our day-to-day lives into a global control network and destroy the very fabric of our Irish localities and existance.

Now, to assist me in this new endeavour, I’m going to be employing and repurposing Irish local newspapers by focusing on local stories printed in those papers and actually taking a much deeper look at the truth that lies beneath the news headlines. People might then have a tool at their disposal to approach local politicians or local media and inform themselves, neighbours and others about what is going on locally and tackle it. Investigate for themselves. Rather than screaming into the digital abyss on the latest global outrage, which is a distraction play governments and elites are more than happy for people to become addicted to and expend energy on.

Often, people flip through these local pieces of journalism and on first fly-by ‘ the news ‘ is presented as good news or positive for a local area or local population. But, on closer examination, the item in question is generally long-term bad for the area. More seriously, it raises serious implications as to who actually owns our localities and ultimately runs them.

I’m starting close to home with a recent article published in the Tuam Herald with a publication date of July 2, 2025. Moving forward, my hope is to focus on an article from a different local newspaper in each edition of the series. Readers are invited to join in by forwarding me interesting local news pieces from their area to my email address at the foot of this piece.

Massive 900 acre solar farm planned for North Galway

The subject matter for today’s piece is an article written by Mark Walsh of the Tuam Herald and news that “ The Belville Solar Farm Project “ is planning to build an 894 acre solar farm on lands in the north Galway parishes of Monivea and Abbeyknockmoy. On paragraph three the reader is introduced to the company that is planning to build the farm.

Power Capital Renewable Energy.

It is at this point where problems with this piece of journalism begin and where the journalist stops asking relevant questions or has decided to ignore them. The planning application for the Belville Solar Farm has yet to be submitted and so a community information event was held where a representative from PCRE apparently addressed the local community. I assume the representative identified themselves to the local community but the Tuam Herald have decided not to print the name of the PCRE representative anywhere in the half-page spread, yet quote the person extensively.

“ Power Capital are committed to working with the local community as we take forward initial design work on the the proposed Bellville Solar Project, we will use the upcoming consultation period to listen carefully to the views of the local residents before finalising our plans “ said the PCRE spokesperson ( Tuam Herald, July 2, 2025 edition )

Who are PCRE?

Well now, this is where things get most interesting indeed. The question of ownership is not one addressed by the Tuam Herald or the article’s author. But, a link to a website created for the Bellville Solar Project called bellvillesolar.ie is provided at the end of the Tuam Herald piece. One answer to the “ who “ question is provided by PCRE there.

An answer that is a complete and utter lie.

Power Capital Renewable Energy (PCRE) was founded in 2011, with a long-term goal of producing clean, sustainable energy.

We are a specialist, independent Irish company with a growing international presence. We build photovoltaic (PV) solar farms that produce electricity and continue to grow our portfolio through projects which we believe will help meet climate action targets and benefit local communities. - verbatim quote from bellvillesolar.ie

Now, the real answer to the question is as follows:

Power Capital Renewable Energy is majority owned by Omnes Capital, a Paris-based private equity and infrastructure investment firm.

A French owned hedge fund, in other words.

The acquisition of PCRE was part of Omnes Capital's first investment into the Irish renewables market in 2020, allegedly backing Power Capital's transformation from a pure renewables developer into Ireland's leading independent power producer.

While Omnes Capital owns the controlling stake, Justin Brown and Peter Duff, the co-founders of Power Capital Renewable Energy, continue to serve as Co-CEOs and remain actively involved in the company's operations. The company was originally founded by Brown and Duff in 2011. A point to note here, for future reference in this series, is the huge transformational shift in infrastructural Irish company ownership that occurred during the two year lockdown period in Ireland and in the two years prior to it. A massive move away from predominantly Irish owned infrastructure industries - whether they be solar, wind farms or mobile phone masts - towards hedge-fund owned buy-outs or investment in these same companies and sectors.

Omnes Capital have over 6 billion euro of assets under management and since the acquisition and direct investment into PCRE they’ve extensively expanded their own plans and footprint in Ireland and abroad too. A recent article on a Tipperary solar project appearing in the Irish Examiner on April 21st, 2025 penned by journalist Gordon Deegan, emphasises the extensive ambitions of Omnes Capital in Ireland.

However, the Tipperary project is being met with significant resistance locally led by Independent TD Mattie McGrath. PCRE’s proposed North Galway development is almost three times the size of the Tipperary project with little to zero interest by local politicians in questioning the wisdom of transferring 900 acres of Irish land to French hedge-fund control. Which in effect is exactly what occurs when the landowners enter into long-term deals with renewable energy suppliers.

The North Galway silence is somewhat baffling as the constituency possesses an Independent TD, Sean Canny, who since January 2025 serves as Minister of State at the Department of Transport with responsibility for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail, and Ports. So, a politician with significantly more muscle at his disposal than Mattie McGrath to make things happen or not happen.

The real question, though, in the overall context of the Irish Solar industry is again a rather simple one.

Who are Omnes Capital?

Omnes Capital is a leading European private equity firm headquartered in Paris, with additional offices in Brussels, Munich, and Zurich. According to the official firm blurb they are dedicated to energy transition, focusing its investments on sectors that drive sustainability and innovation. As of early 2024, Omnes manages over €6.7 billion in assets.

However, this description is a bit like the Tuam Herald story we began this piece of writing with - only the surface level truth.

Omnes Capital are also part of the war business. I’m not exactly sure how this stacks up with their visions of protecting the planet or energy transition. But as of four days ago the the private equity firm are also transitioning to war.

On July 2, 2025, Omnes Capital announced the first close of its second deeptech fund, Omnes Real Tech 2, raising €112 million with a target of €200 million by 2026. With a massive expansion of investment into a number of new areas including European defence and Artificial Intelligence. This fund is also notable for being the first in Europe to benefit from the European Union’s defence mandate, specifically through the InvestEU programme. So, Omnes are now entering the defence business or the weapons business to put it more bluntly.

So, what are key aspects of Omnes Capital's defence investment ?

Spotlight sectors: The Omnes Real Tech fund targets foundational sectors including defence and security, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, new space, electronic components, and advanced materials.

Portfolio Companies targeted by this fund: Omnes is an investor in several high-profile European defence and Spacetech Startups:

Quantum Systems (Germany): A profitable unicorn specializing in drones for defence applications.

ARX Robotics (Germany): Specializes in unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) for defence; Omnes’ new fund’s first investment was in this company.

The Exploration Company (Franco-German): Focused on spacecraft and new space technologies.

Investment Stage: Omnes invests in early growth stage start-ups—companies with revenue or order backlog and a path to profitability within 24 months. They also reserve significant capital for follow-on investments to support scaling.

Geographic Focus: While pan-European, Omnes places particular emphasis on Germany and Italy, leveraging a 20-year network of deeptech entrepreneurs and experts.

Institutional Backing: The fund is supported by major European institutional investors, including Bpifrance, France 2030, the European Investment Fund (via the EU defence mandate), BNP Paribas, and Crédit Agricole Assurances.

Now, it is at this point we should pause to consider some broader, long-term questions, ones not often raised by local media, national media or international media. These reflections have very little to do with the “climate crisis “, or indeed, whether you believe solar panels are net good or bad for the environment. Or what the best solutions are to promote a more wholesome environment and natural world. The broader consideration I’m getting at here is something different.

Solar energy, Wind farms, mobile phone masts, even the latest craze on European Defence have one thing in common:

They are all an industry.

All solutions must start not first with finding the correct solution but by ensuring a global industry - controlled by the few - can be created to implement the solution. The globalist in your neighbourhood never promotes local solutions to local problems. First and foremost, they promote the creation of global industries to solve local, national and global problems. Whether the problem is real or manufactured, a select few must become mega wealthy as a result of the solution. We know this by virtue of the growing numbers of companies investing in these sectors of focus.

Hedge-funds.

Whether those funds be Blackrock or Omnes Capital they are dedicated to profit above all else. They are also the select few with access to the central funding taps of places like the European Investment Bank and others. An institution theoretically owned by the EU member states but fuelling who exactly?

Now, the solar energy industry in Ireland is particularly insidious because the industry require tens of thousands of acres, if not hundreds of thousands, of good agricultural Irish land - productive land - to implement their solutions. In short, tens of thousands of acres of Irish land comes under the control of a small, select group of hedge-funds. Today’s example is a French global equity house. Tomorrow’s example might well be a US or UK finance house.

To move this piece on lets imagine a scenario where 80% of Irish electricity is produced from solar farms and supplied into the national electricity grid of Ireland.

How would these global hedge funds controlling the electricity supply market react, do you think, if an Irish government decided to cut the price it was willing to pay for electricity ?

What might happen to electricity supply, would you say, if Ireland, as a neutral country, announced it was totally opposed to any increase in Irish or even EU spending on European defence funding or an EU Army?

As a nation we are transferring our energy dependence from the fluctuating price of a barrel of oil into a dependence on the bones fides of a global elite of private equity firms who supply our energy and electricity by usurping our land and our seas to provide it.

Bonkers.

If local newspapers are going to cheer-lead French hedge-funds herding sheep underneath thousands of solar panels across North Galway’s turf bogs and fertile fields and tell us this is good for the sheep then they at least need to begin presenting the whole facts of who and what is behind all of these projects.

Community information evenings probably don’t highlight any of the information above as part of the PowerPoint presentations provided by the local representatives of Global Inc. Instead, they talk in the hollow vocabulary of the financier and of the:

“ significant investment in the local economy “

At community nights, they promise ha’pennies on the euro towards a community fund and other strings of insignificant rubbish. Meanwhile, back on the walnut lined walls and boardrooms of the controlling ranches - the resources of the county are quietly transferred from Monivea and Abbeyknockmoy to Zurich and Paris.

“ PCRE intend to set up a fund for the Bellville Solar Farm project. A minimum of 2 euro per megawatt hour of electricity produced will be paid to the community benefit fund “ Tuam Herald, July 2, 2025

The above statement pulled from the Bellville website by the Tuam Herald rather than from the PCRE representative’s mouth who presented at the community infomercial. This little detail, small as it is, would indicate the Tuam Herald are on board with the project. Wallpapering over the cracks. I’ve already highlighted the same website can’t be relied on to tell you who really owns the company. So, I wouldn’t be running to the bank with any promises made on the community fund front.

Conclusion

And so, everybody smiles and flaps excitedly like turkeys watching the kitchen table being set for a hearty Christmas dinner. All parties imagining themselves sitting down together to enjoy a 900 acre North Galway feast. Many though, ignorant of an Orwellian fact from Animal Farm.

Some smiles are more equal than others.

Not everyone is joining the feast and a few sneaky smiles are reserved for and directed at the soon-to-be headless turkeys marching happily into their own oven, in their own kitchen, in their own house, on their own land.

You know, when you reach a certain vintage of Irish rural life and living you begin to understand something. A slow moving knowing seeps into your aging bones. Until finally, one day, this knowing becomes a shocking realisation. The profound comprehension that the Bull McCabe didn’t kill the American half quickly enough in the movie.

The Irish sadness is it takes us half our lives to figure this out.

It’s the only good fight there is “

A few weeks ago, I wrote a story about a little boy with a hole in his heart. To say I was disappointed with the response to it would be understatement of the year. Now, that’s not to say people didn’t respond ( a few made very sizeable contributions to Nicky Jnr’s GoFundMe ) but I was surprised by the lack of reaction and general dis-interest.

I can see from recent posts that shorter pieces of writing with a single focus resonate a little more. I can, no doubt, luxuriate in getting to the point sometimes. Or all the time. People are busy and lots of good writers out there warrant attention. So, I will continue on this shorter stream for awhile.

But…

I write to search for depth and to unearth the hidden truths and comforting lies residing within me. This method of typing and hitting keys on the keyboard is an altogether uncomfortable writing experience. Because it’s mostly about finding the isolation to scrape out the words. But, I can luxuriate in the isolation too sometimes and not bother with the words.

My mother recently had the experience of observing this writing process when I sat down to write the Nicky Jnr story ( link at the end ). It involved incessant tea-making and constant smoking and a couple of spins out into the country-side in the car and arrival back to the kitchen table and lap-top after midnight and then more tea and more smoking.

Her worried conclusion?

“ You’re turning into Uncle John “

The observation pleased me. For it was both true and false. John, the live-in uncle of my childhood was the master of silence, all night tea-making, filter-less Sweet Afton, but also of a private, innocent smiling to himself that made a young fella believe there might well be a God sitting above there in heaven too. Surely, only something divine could produce such a beautiful, bashful smile hidden from public view.

He lived in our home and I grew up on his land. Roaming it on foot and by tractor. Less than thirty acres with sheep and cattle and fields scattered across three different town-lands of the village. I’d often be sent down to the Clashaganny land to count cattle and return back a couple of hours later having forgotten the number. After a quick totting of numbers, I’d utilize the field-time by reading a book and smoking stolen Sweet Afton. Taking reading breaks to inspect the fairy-ring-fort in the corner of the field or investigate the hidden mysteries of a ditch tunnelled by trees, brambles and bunches primroses. I often invited myself into neighbours fields as well to eh.. count their cattle too when I’d get bored with our own land.

It was a time when every farm holding had a sheep-dog or two and all moving of cattle and sheep was done on foot and on the road with the aid of a trusty and much loved sheep-dog. The main reason it took so long to get from A to B in the West of Ireland, back in the eighties, wasn’t only due to the poor condition of all the roads but also because a fifty mile car journey would usually involve getting stuck behind livestock on the move more than once. Animals being shifted from one West of Ireland parcel of land to another, a couple of miles away.

When I wrote the Nicky Jnr story under the watchful and baffled eye of my eighty-year old mother, I had a secondary goal. One not mentioned in the original article, which I can see now was an error of judgement. That goal was for the article to find its way onto the computer screens of people working in the Irish Health System, that it might nudge one or two of them into tweaking the system into giving this boy his heart procedure. While, the whole Irish Health System probably needs to be dismantled, re-imagined and rebuilt; that’s not much use to little Nicky Jnr. The little boy may well die on the operating table but his parents and brothers and sisters are willing to take the chance. For, without it, his fate is sealed anyway. Someone in the system can do something, perhaps in a quiet manner, to help.

And I’d like you all to help me find them.

Now, a feature of all the movement of cattle and sheep on the Irish roads thirty and forty years ago was the occasional death and maiming of sheep-dogs getting clipped by a passing car or lorry. I remember well when when we lost one and the surprising heartbreak of my father to his injury and subsequent death. His death was my distracted fault. I called him to cross a busy road to jump into the tractor beside me, not seeing the approach of an oncoming car. Another forgotten feature of Ireland back then was its attitude to the injured sheep-dog with a broken leg. The kindest course of action was to put the poor fella down immediately and without question. The only compassionate course of action, they said. It was cruel not to, in other words.

Over the last few years, one of the incidental features of motoring around and meeting people is the number of three-legged dogs and cats I come across. The pets of the resistance, you might say. My ingrained instinct is always to seek out pain in their eyes, something, anything, to confirm the truth of my conditioned thinking about sheep-dogs and absorbed into my bones from youth. I have yet to meet pain or indeed any discomfort in their eyes or well-being. All I have seen is a whole lot of love and quiet comfort. Given and received.

I suppose the fate of all those dearly departed sheep-dogs was sealed once their use and primary function could no longer be provided. No longer able to help round up sheep in a field or move cattle along a busy road. It wasn’t really about compassion but rather the general societal lie being sold to help everyone sleep at night.

I suppose, whether Nicky jnr lives or dies he will never be able to fulfil the current societal function and lie in vogue: The monstrous growth and appetite of the Irish economy must be continuously fed at all costs.

It will cost too much money to help Nicky Jnr, and besides, he’ll never be useful towards promoting the current societal lies of the times.

So, I have request.

It was the perfect war for this strange, new world. Done, dusted and filed away in just twelve days. Heroes and villains and speeches. Incompetence at high-noon followed by promises of nuclear holocausts at five minutes before midnight. Knowing whispers, conspiracies and inside base-ball. The end of the world at any damn moment, if not sooner, apparently.

Yawn.

I’ve caught myself doing that a lot lately. Increasingly, I’m finding it difficult to get worked up into a fuming mess by prospects of the world meeting an untimely end.

Reality as we know it is ending, that is all.

A common, shared, consensus reality is now consigned to the dustbin of human history. The parlour is almost empty of things we, as human beings, can agree on and sit down to converse with and dine with each other on. So, I guess, we may starve to death in silence, eventually. Talking on any subject nowadays really involves considering two or three different realities for the duration of the discourse. This number may multiply quite quickly in the years ahead too. So, wild west times are ahead, for sure, but not the end of the 4.5 billion year old earth methinks.

My own non-scientific analysis believes Iran still only possesses very decaffeinated uranium. War-mongers disagree and believe the Iranians are/were merely hours away from putting the finishing touches to an impressive looking stainless steel espresso machine. Well, until fourteen big, beautiful bombs from the United States obliterated the craftmanship.

Or maybe they didn’t. Or maybe they half did.

As I said, consensus reality is past tense.

Now, according to the people who know things, Iran's decaffeinated uranium levels have reached 60%, which is significantly closer to espresso grade uranium than the people who know things would like. How much the people who know things actually know is becoming more and more debatable as the old reality ends and the new ones begin to emerge. It is equally possible these people know everything or next to nothing. And in both scenarios all-out war is their out-of-the-box answer.

Uranium is considered Italian espresso quality when it reaches levels somewhere north of 90% caffeine enrichment. Thoughts of Iran possessing coffee beans of this nature have been keeping some these knowledgeable maniacs up all night. For twelve nights in a row. At which point World War Three and regime change were order of the day and the only solution to ensure a good night’s sleep for many of these people who know things. Thankfully, after twelve days a compromise was found and fourteen big, beautiful bombs later a cease-fire was initiated.

For those worried that an era of world peace is upon us, fear not. A new, intense blend of aromatic coffee-beans will be sniffed out somewhere else soon enough and another war will be on the table. Probably, a seven day inter galactic conflict next-time to spice things up a little bit.

As a brief aside, civilian nuclear power plants typically run at 3-5% uranium enrichment levels which by comparison probably ranks them as some kind of herbal tea you’d find on one of the lower shelfs in Lidl. Although, people would do well to consider installing one on the roof beside the solar panels for the times ahead. For health and safety reasons just don’t put it anywhere near an espresso machine.

The world is not ending.

But consensus reality has breezed past its sell-by date.

So far, it is the year of startling, non-native events. Storm Éowyn, that January tempest of ferocious almost alien intensity, seems now, to have been a harbinger of sorts. The fierce turbulence and brutality of its short life lies strewn across Cong Woods still. Long, handsome trees lay prostrate across the mossy carpet at odd angles. Lone trees in spots and families of them in others. Stricken down but now almost invisible. Frozen with a fearsome time-stamp. Untouched, unloved and unremarked upon. Plainly visible to the naked eye yet forgotten too.

Rambling along the Cong Woods trail early last week I bumped into the same felled oaks, ashes, and pines I met in early February. The timber goodness fading and withering away. Woodland-victims of the battle between abnormal nature and a community of defenceless trees. The fallen angels, no longer able to wipe away the winter’s slumber from acorn eyes with a summery yawn and stretch of green, shooting branches. Never more to ricochet back-up to take their rightful place as guardians and protectors of Ireland’s spiritually misted forests. Unfortunately, the blackening barks hint at a faint aroma of rot approaching cool on the air. The mangled, time-warped trees a reminder of recent traumas while hinting at more unpleasantness to come too.

Storm Éowyn the original lone gunman story of the year.

Last Sunday, according to multiple sources across the mainstream Irish stress, a lone gunman strolled into the Fairgreen Shopping Centre in Carlow and began shooting. By the end, he was dead. The inevitable fate of all lone gunmen. A truth proven to be both a convenient and inconvenient one through-out history. Ireland it would seem is quickly becoming a country of quickly identified lone gunmen and unreported upon lone knife-men. Neither good. Nor fully fledged into chaotic violence by their lone-ness, alone. It surely takes a forest of fallen trees to produce a steady stream of lone gunmen and lone knifemen too.

At the time of writing, the Irish mainstream stress reporting on the Fairgreen Shopping Centre emphasise the lone gunman’s fascination with fire-arms. Yet another, US-inspired phrase to add to the list and latest attempt at frenzied US tabloid narrative building in Ireland. Tragedy is tragedy enough, surely. Strangely, the media reporting on this shooting incident lays out exactly the Irish future they seem desperately intent on building. One of fear and chaos. In return for safety we hand over the keys to our privacy and pull the zip across our lips even tighter.

Now, fortunately, this was a shooting and not a stabbing incident. Because if this was a tale about a twenty something woman out for a run we might not know the victim was stabbed eleven times in the neck for a couple of years more yet. Or in different circumstances, the public might be treated to completely the wrong identity of a perpetrator on an auld knife crime. But, regardless of my rabbit-hole annoyances - some probably true, some probably not-so-true - the moral of this story is curiously the same:

Random, lone gunmen and random, lone knife-men are alien criminals to the Irish nation.

Yet, here they are, anyway. These alien attacks now frequently plastered and planted across our front-pages. Along with the latest host of pantomime far-right villains to boo your anger onto from the cinema seats. You know, just in case, you run out of bogey-men to lie in fear of at night once the alien crime in question is solved.

It is hard to describe what Ireland has morphed into over the last couple of years. The towns no longer feel like the Ireland of even ten years ago, bar a couple of notable exceptions, which is why I’m so inclined to steer well clear of most of them, most of the time. However, the small light at the end of the tunnel is that Ireland is not yet fully anything other than Ireland. For the moment, Ireland is in alien but not clearly defined territory. Not clearly won territory, in other words.

This lone gunman incident follows on from a lone teenager in county Clare earlier in the year. Another alien event where a number of schools were sent threatening e-mails referencing fire-arms and a mini-lockdown was kinda initiated until said lone-teenager was located. The Limerick Leader noted:

“ A photo of a threatening email sent to a number of schools in the Shannon, Sixmilebridge and Ennis areas was widely shared on social media. It refers to firearms “

The foot-note to that particular mainstream stress was the boy’s email account may have been hacked or “swatted” to use the official terminology of Hackers Inc. Now, maybe it was or maybe it wasn’t but I note the story died once mention of this fact emerged. Allowing the media hounds to move on and hunt down the scent of the next episode of a Netflix crime thriller to pipe into your phones and lives.

Ireland’s towns and village are becoming hacked by the day. We, increasingly, live in a hacked society and the hacker results are producing a weird and alien sense of collective of Irishness. However, the hackers are far from bullet-proof as a recent event might prove. Offering some hope.

A very recent alien storm rocked up to the foot of a mountain. Mayo Pride and the LGBT plus whatever letter of the alphabet you’re having yourself community, decided it was past time to commandeer and march on Ireland’s holiest mountain, Croagh Patrick. To complete the take-over, those rapscallions of alphabetic derangement, attempted to hack a particularly Christian and Irish icon - The Child of Prague - to assist them on their processional climb up the mountain. The Child of Prague, though, to be removed and replicated with a wholly different kind of icon instead - The Child of Drag - to lead the alphabet-soup-an-istas on their merry march.

So, the desecration of the infant child Jesus with what amounts to a voo-doo doll. A revealing insight into the psychology of the organising organisms. Which the lay-man might term as slightly deranged and demented with a sprinkling of black confetti-ed demonic vibration. Now, for those unaware, which includes myself until I looked this up, The Infant Jesus of Prague is a sacred and beloved image of the Holy Child, radiating divine grace and tender mercy for over four centuries. This holy statue first came to the historical nation of Bohemia in the year 1556, carried by the devout María Maximiliana Manriquez de Lara y Mendoza. Legend has it her heart was filled with faith as she journeyed to her new home. Tradition holds that this precious image was once cherished by the great Saint Teresa of Ávila, who entrusted it to María’s family, thus passing on a legacy of deep spiritual blessing. We love it too despite not understanding all of the history or religious significance.

Now, here’s the glitch in the hackers matrix and one we should all pay attention to and note. While, these aliens of drag seduction understand the importance of destroying Ireland’s ancient Christian faith and heritage, the AI program doesn’t yet recognise all of the reasons why the Child of Prague has a powerful hold over many in the nation when religion does not. True for practising Catholics and many non-practising alike.

The Child of Prague was one of the original immigrants we invited into the bosom of our homes. Over-time, this statue took its sacred place above open turf-fires on smoke-scented mantelpieces of many hundreds of thousands of Irish homes in the West of Ireland and further afield. We took this statue and icon of the Infant Jesus into two of our most precious and intimate places. Our hearths and our hearts. And combined into our homes.

Is it not the case, that when you invited a new, valued someone into your home or village this is how we used to do it as a nation. With care, attention, thought and then finally with open-heartedness and open hearthed-ness. A two-way connection and understanding which gives the best hopes of long-term success, in other words.

Today, many Irish struggle admitting to faith, religion, or spirituality practice. But, fortunately, many still remember what home felt, looked, and smelt like. The Child of Prague, a reminder that the divine shows up there too. The reaction and subsequent derailment of the Mayo Pride march on Croagh Patrick tells me all is not completely lost in terms our faith and our nation. But all is far from won either.

So, when the Irish mainstream stress present a picture of a lone Irish gunman, one fascinated with fire-arms - and if I play along with their depiction of events - I would probably still end up asking this question:

I wonder if the lone gunman grew up playing in a living-room centred around an open-fire with holy statues and odd looking porcelain tea-pots decorating the mantelpiece?

Whatever about those considerations, we know instinctively the Irish future as dictated by our betters doesn’t allow for fire. We know because they have told us in black and white. Climate - the new Church of Scientology - doesn’t allow for disciples possessed of homes built with a chimney. Yet, another dangerous, cultish science doctrine of today. Where first you remove the bog, the turf, then the fire, followed further by the mantelpiece, and sure then, finally, won’t the fate of the Child of Prague look after itself.

Cue, demonic Child of Drag smiles all round.

There are many fights ahead. The fight for our fireplaces and hearths might well be chief amongst them. The new religionists of climate and trans must believe in God, on some unconscious level, I reckon, though. We can ascertain this by how eagerly they chase possession of Ireland’s most sacred icons, days, buildings and faith. They want to transpose your faith in God to a blind faith in sciencey cult.

So, obviously, they want all the icons, the holy mountains and the sacred sites. They want the new housing estate chimneys and old churches too. They want the land and the bogs. And the rivers and the lakes. The old forests. They want to delete your memories of our ancient nation.

In short, They need a nation of fallen trees.
