Sometimes, I receive correspondence from readers through the letter-box. It’s always quite a thrill to experience communication the old fashioned way. Last week, Postman Pat dropped off an A4 sized envelope and I immediately recognised the call to arms and carefully printed handwriting. It’s the second time I’ve received this type of delivery.
So, anyway, a group of anonymous mothers from a town that shall remain nameless sent me their latest batch of artwork for distribution. I have no idea as to the identities of the women in this group of Irish warrior queens, other than to say, I do like their style very much indeed.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve seen a lot of flyers and leaflets. Quite often, the tone of the text in many of them doesn’t exactly hit the right note, at least to my mind anyway. Sometimes too aggressive and sometimes information overload. But these ladies always seem to find the correct balance of making an incisive point along with leaving enough elbow room for a little humour too. If you can download the picture above, please do, and feel free to distribute to a lamp-post or bus-stop near you.
This mail receipt reminded me of another endeavour I am undertaking. I am planning to walk 5K a day for all of lent but hoping to site the start of the 5k at a different location around the county and country each day. In addition, I’m inviting a few different people to join me on some these walks and sit down at the end to chat with them and record our conversation for an audio podcast. The idea is to discuss how the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021 affected them and their lives. And what impact it may have played in an examination of their own spirituality. Or if it played any role at all. Although, I suspect, it has for many of us.
PS. Now, I only got this idea today but Dr. Tony’s picture above will be plastered to a tree, each day, for the remainder of these walks.
PPS. Another gift received from a pilgrim, one darkened night, is the Unity Prayer. It seems to be a meaningful prayer for many you, as I am discovering as I meander along.
May we find it within ourselves and with each other.

The walking idea seems great Gerry. Serves three purposes, exercise, fresh air and grounding and the company of intelligent free-thinking people. Go for it!
" Dr Pain in the Holohan"😂 - that got me laughing! Excellent. And the prayer is lovely. I wish you all the best for your walks and conversations, Gerry.
